Bobby Shoemaker Eagles Hole #2 at Dutchaven Golf Course

June 4, 2015 By eastwickpress

by Kevin Weeden

Due to the holiday, Monday night golfers had their choice of which day to play this week.  Because of this, there wasn’t any closest to the pin contests or skins.  Wednesday night golfers had to fight the darkening skies, but those who waited until 6 pm were treated to a beautiful night.  Some golfers will be making their matches up next week, so the standings for Wednesday are not up-to-date.

With new dice in hand, and an equal chance of each hole to be rolled, hole #12 came up for the Wednesday skins.  In flight A, no one was able to birdie this hole, the par pushed the pot until next week.  In flight B, Eric Pearson cashed in once again with his nice par.  Congratulations Eric!!  This week the spring match play tournament will begin.

On Monday night, the leaders in flight A, Leon Rosko and Ed Powers, remained unbeaten on the year.  This week Rod Squires and Dean Becker get a chance to take them down.  The big match up this week in flight B is leaders Dave and Tom Vogt, winners of 4 out of 5 weeks versus the second place team of Mike Waitekos and Eric Holbritter, who are in a two-week slump.  On Wednesday night, Rick Crosier and Jamie Balance still hold on to First place, despite their first loss of the season.  They each won their individual matches, but lost the total score, missing out on the 5 points.  Most of us are thankful for this rain, but in hope that it dries out before the leagues start up again.

At 10 am, 25 Patriot Guard motorcycles streamed into Hoosick Falls Community Alliance Church parking lot escorting the tribute flag Liberty. When the program began, there were about 140 people gathered to hear about her journey.

The power went out just before the program was to begin, so candles were lit and the program went on by candle light.
