Richard G. Percey
Hoosick Falls – Richard Grant Percey, 85, died on Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bennington, VT.
Born in Bennington on June 5, 1928, Richard was the son of the late Raymond F. and Alicia Armstrong Percey. He was a 1946 graduate of Bennington High School and served his country in the Army from 1946 to 1948. He later attended Perdue University. A resident of Hoosick Falls, NY, since 1967, Richard was employed for twelve years as a bartender in several area restaurants and clubs before taking employment with Norplex Division of Allied Signal in Hoosick Falls from where he retired in 1993 following 28 years of service.
Richard was a member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks and enjoyed wet fly fishing, photography, woodworking, downhill skiing, electronics and reading. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.
Richard was the husband of the late Stasia I. Miller Percey, father of Richard C. Percey of Westover, VT, Donald Percey of California and Darlene Knight of Washington. He is also survived by one grandchild
A funeral Mass for Richard was celebrated on Tuesday, December 17, at 10:30 am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Hoosick Falls. The Reverend Thomas Zelker, pastor, was the celebrant. Following cremation, inurnment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Contributions, in memory of Richard G. Percey, may be made to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad. Arrangements are by the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home in Petersburgh, NY.

Village of Hoosick Falls Board Action – Woods Brook Issue Discussed

At the Hoosick Falls Village Board meeting on Tuesday, December 10, Mayor David Borge said there had been a meeting with U.S. Congressman Chris Gibson’s representative Steve Bulger regarding the Woods Brook problem. “Whatever the fix may be, it will be very expensive,” said Borge. The Mayor said Bulger is working to set up a meeting in the Village after the first of the year with Congressman Gibson, a representative of DEC and a representative of the Army Corps of Engineers.

The Hoosick Falls Community Band Christmas Concert

The Hoosick Falls Community Band under the direction of Bill Gaillard will present its 31st annual Christmas Concert on Wednesday, December 18, at 7:30 pm. The first concert was initiated by the late Rev. Robert Sprunger who was pastor and clarinet player at that time. The concerts have continued since. The location is the First United Presbyterian Church in Hoosick Falls.

The Stardusters Christmas Concert

Hoosick Falls own “big band,” the Stardusters, will present its second annual Christmas Concert at the Community Alliance Church on Hill Road in Hoosick Falls. The concert will be held on Sunday, December 15, at 3 pm.

Hoosick Falls Skating Rink Opens December 21
Ice at the Hoosick Falls skating rink is starting to look good for the holiday season. The Town now has 194 pair of skates; 75 pair are new. The rink is scheduled to open Saturday, December 21. Holiday Hours are Saturday, December 21 – 12:30 to 2:30, 3:30 to 5:30 and 6:30 to 8:30 pm, Sunday, December 22 through Tuesday, December 24 – 12:30 to 2:30 and 3:30 to 5:30 pm, Closed December 25, Thursday, December 26 through Monday December 30 – 12:30 to 2:30, 3:30 to 5:30 and 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Rink Prices: Children up to age 17 and Seniors 62 and over are $3; Adults $4. Skate rentals are $3 and skate sharpening is $5. All hours are subject to change because of the weather.
