Rensselaer County Legislature – HFCS Girls Rule

While their parents, relatives and friends filled the gallery of the Legislative Chamber during the presentation period of the Rensselaer County Legislature’s regular meeting on Tuesday, February 14, the Hoosick Falls State Class C Co-Championship Girls Soccer Team entered the well of the Legislature with their coach to receive copies of the resolution passed in December honoring their season’s achievements. Legislators Brownell and Goodermote made the presentation to the 17 members of the team present on Tuesday.

The Bands For St. Patrick’s Day In Hoosick Falls
The Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee has announced the list of bands confirmed so far for the March 17, 21st Annual Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Returning is the Excelsior Drum Corps of Troy, the Capitol Brass Drum Corps of Albany, Galloway Gaelic Pipes and Drums of Glens Falls, Fyfes and Drums of Olde Saratoga and The Taconic Pipe Band of Hoosick Falls.
After the parade the annual Irish Festival will be held at the Hoosick Falls Armory. The Irish band Triskile will perform until 4 pm. Enjoy a combined concert of the Taconic and Galloway Gaelic Pipe’s and Drums. The Jones Family will entertain with Irish dance. Great Irish food and drink will be on sale. Girl Scout Cookies Are On The Move
Girl Scout Cookies arrive in Hoosick Falls on February 25 and individual scouts will begin contacting their customers during the last week of February and early March. Girls and their parents/guardians will need cash payment for cookies prior to handing cookies over.
Did you miss out on ordering cookies from an individual scout or do you wish you ordered more? Don’t fret – local Girl Scouts will be selling at Stewart’s in Hoosick at the corner of Routes 22 and 7 on Fridays from 4 to 9 pm and Sundays from 2 to 7 pm and at the Big Moose Deli and Country Store in Hoosick at the corner of South Street and Route 7 on Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm between March 10 and April 1.

Hoosick Falls – Shirley A. Fitzpatrick, 80, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the Rivers Edge Community Care Center in Bennington, VT. She was the wife of the late William J. Fitzpatrick, who died in 1998.
