Help Wanted For Kiwanis’ Playground Community Build

The Hoosick Falls Kiwanis, the Town of Hoosick, and the Village of Hoosick Falls need your help. We are putting the new playground together on Thursday, May 19 from 11 am to 6 pm, Friday, May 20 from 8 am to 7 pm, and on Saturday morning. Bring your own shovel, metal rake, and 3/8ths ratchet wrench. Meals for volunteers have been donated by local restaurants.
On Tuesday, May 24, we will add the swings, etc. Volunteers and their families will test it all out.
The playground will open the next day, Wednesday, May 25.

EC Fund Receives Stewarts Holiday Match Funds

Stewarts Stores made a $350 donation to the EC Fund as part of its “Holiday Match” program. Stewart’s matches the money left at the checkout counter “change jar” for local donation. It was Grange Night and Food Pantry Night on April 27. Master David Cornell presided over the meeting. He brought up the price of oil and what we paid and the current price, and ordered more oil. It was brought up about the water at the hall, and it was tested and evaluated and will have a carbon filter put in next week. It was also discussed whether we would do a float and  ideas are wanted. The northern end of Church Street in Hoosick Falls was all abuzz with activity on Monday evening, April 18. Lots of community members and local officials, as well as Hoosick Local Development Corporation (HLDC) committee members were downtown to welcome Xentrix Hair Saloon, Little Sprouts, and Shaw’s Mobile Repair Services. Visitors to the shops were invited to look around, talk to the proprietors, and sample snacks and beverages. ASA Seeks Pre-Applications For Farmland Protection Grants

A Great Day For a Great Cause

The day was off to a perfect start before the first competitor arrived at the Wood Park. It was a spectacular spring day for the Lace Up and Race For the Cure. Competitors began arriving an hour before start time and didn’t stop until there were 262 of them, a new race record that surpassed the hopes of the organizers.
