Students across the high school worked together to make the 2015 Christmas Wish the most successful ever. Members of the Phillip Leonard Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) collected $6,109.65 during their homeroom collection drive. The Hoosick Friends of Skating Club has now become the Town of Hoosick Learn-to-Skate Program, under the direction of Kaila Matatt and the Town of Hoosick.
Skating lesson registration is on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 9 am to 1 pm at the Reynolds-Gilchrest Skating Rink on Barton Avenue in Hoosick Falls.
The program offers eight half-hour lessons in figure and hockey skating fundamentals following the United States Figure Skating Association’s Basic Skills Program. Individuals must be five years of age or older as of January 1, 2016 in order to participate. Classes will be held Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings, beginning January 16, and continuing until February 10.
The cost for all eight lessons is $50 for Town of Hoosick residents and $60 for non-residents. Payment is due at registration. There will be a $10 discount for families with three or more registrants. A $10 late fee will be charged for all registrations after January 16.
