Stephen Colvin Memorial Run-Walk-Roll 5K Race

Held last weekend on a brisk Saturday morning, the Stephen Colvin Memorial Run, Walk or Roll Race drew 102 competitors. Participants gathered at Wood Park then walked up to the corner of Munsell and High Street, where the race began, with temperatures in the upper forties. Hoosick Hootenanny October 17

The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (formerly Hoosick Falls Health Center) Foundation presents Hoosick Hootenanny! Join the celebration of local flavors on October 17 from 3 to 8 pm at the Town of Hoosick Park. The Hootenanny will feature a local, honest ingredient meal, craft beer, wine, cider, music, tastings and products found in our own backyard. On Saturday, October 24 Brown’s Brewing and CiviCure are excited to present Farm to Canvas, an event combining the profound pleasure of collecting art with the excitement of a lottery where every ticket holder is a winner. The goal of Farm to Canvas is to grow the audience for original artwork while supporting the restoration of Hoosick Falls’ Wood Block Opera House. Since 1880, Wood Block has housed two extraordinary exhibition and performance spaces. 15th Annual Fall Festival At HFCS Loads Of Fun And Prizes!

American House Demolition Will Be Costly

The American House on Elm Street was the subject of a Public Hearing on September 28 at Hoosick Village Hall. Building Inspector Mark Surdam has tracked down the owner, who had been located in Las Vegas, Nevada the last time there was correspondence with him; he now lives in Tel Aviv, Israel. After several certified letters to the owner had been returned unanswered, he finally responded. There were several emails back and forth, one of which informed the owner that he needed to come to the September 28 public hearing and show proof that the building does not need to be demolished, or the Village would take action. Surdam received an email from the property owner stating that he intended to “put it [the American House] back together,” but could not come to a public hearing to argue his case that the building is salvageable until November 28.
