Senator Kathy Marchione, Chair of the Senate’s Local Government Committee, has announced that her bi-partisan legislation to help local communities address the growing challenge of abandoned buildings has been unanimously passed by the New York State Senate. Hoosick Falls is one of the communities that could benefit from this legislation. It still needs to be passed by the State Assembly. Join Hoosick Falls CSD Jazz Band At The Great NY State Fair

The Hoosick Falls Central School Jazz Band is once again venturing out to The Great New York State Fair! On Saturday, August 29, a group of 25 students, ranging in age from 9th grade through 12th grade, will travel to Syracuse to perform. This year will be the fourth time they’ve done so. Solar Farm And Signs Show Need For Joint Meeting

At the recent Town Board meeting a combined meeting of the Zoning, Planning and Town Boards was scheduled for Tuesday, July 28 at 6:30 pm at the HAYC3 Armory. Cambridge Historical Society And Museum Open For Summer Season

Hoosick Falls Police Officer In Fight For His Life

Nick Colaneri has wanted to be a police officer his entire life. A 2008 graduate of Cambridge Central School, Nick has an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Hudson Valley Community College and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Albany. Hoosick Town Board Action

Revaluation Discussed

Hoosick Town Supervisor Mark Surdam brought up the subject of a Town and Village property revaluation at the Town Board meeting on Monday, July 13. Surdam said the idea had been discussed at the last Hoosick Rising meeting and it is something that should be seriously considered. Laurin Re-Elected HFCS Board President; Helft is VP

At the Hoosick Falls School Board’s Organizational Meeting on July 9, Rick Ferrannini nominated Greg Laurin for another year as President of the School Board, and Laurin was unanimously elected. Because current vice president Rick Ferrannini had made it known that he did not wish to be the Vice-President of the Board this year, Laurin nominated John Helft as VP, and he was unanimously elected.
