Flag Day Ceremony In Hoosick Falls

The annual Hoosick Falls Flag Day Ceremony was hosted by American Legion Post #40 outdoors at its headquarters on Main Street on Sunday, June 14… Flag Day. Mistress of Ceremonies was Elks member Terri Burdick who described the evolution of the American flag from its beginnings up to today. The various flags were carried by senior Boy and Girl Scouts from the Legion building through an honor guard of very young future girl and boy scouts. Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home – Parade Participants Wanted

It is no secret that those who served during the Vietnam era didn’t receive a proper welcome home when they returned from war. Many were told to remove their uniforms before going to the airport so they would not be recognized as soldiers upon their return to the U.S. Some of our very own were insulted and spit upon instead of being treated as heroes. Reynolds Foundation Gives Grants

Hoosick Town Pool To Open With Ribbon Cutting And Free Swim

The Town of Hoosick Pool will officially open with a brief ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, June 20 at noon. For the rest of the day the pool will be open for a “free swim.”

Visit www.hoosickrecreation.com for pool regulations, fees and hours. Season  passes can be purchased from the Town Clerk weekdays from 8:30 to noon and 1 to 4 pm.

Wood Park Concerts Coming!

The Wood Park concert season will open on Wednesday evening June 24 at 7:30 pm with a program by the Stardusters of Hoosck Falls. This “big band” has been performing since its premier in 1975 at a concert at Hoosick Falls Central School. The Stardusters program will feature big band music from all eras. Cooking Classes Highlight HAYC3’s Menu of Summer Offerings

Summer is almost here and we have the perfect summertime cooking classes.

The Hoosick Kitchen at the HAYC3 Armory is offering both adult and Young Chef’s cooking classes. Taught by local Chef Kelly O’Connor, these hands-on classes will be held in The Hoosick Kitchen located downstairs in the HAYC3 Armory at 80 Church Street. It was Dairy Princess Night at Hoosick Grange on June 10. David Schmidt was in charge of the program, and he introduced the Rensselaer County Dairy Princess, Isabella Wiley.
