The Edith Craig Reynolds Foundation regularly contributes to community endeavors in the Hoosick area and this year honored HAYC3 with a contribution of $2,500 to be put towards the purchase of a sound system.

Hoosick Town Board Action – Salt Shortage

At the Hoosick Town Board meeting on Monday, February 9, Highway Superintendent Bill Shiland said “right now we have no salt stockpile. The last salt went down last night (Sunday).” Shiland said there is a shortage of salt everywhere. “There are more orders than they can fill,” he added. He noted suppliers will take care of the State and the County first, “but we’re the little fish,” implying the Town’s request for salt will be way down the list. Shiland said his crew had been mixing the salt with sand to stretch it out.

Fitzsimmons Takes On Cystic Fibrosis With Relish

Dragon slayers come in all shapes and sizes. Grandma Linda Fitzsimmons is working to slay the Cystic Fibrosis dragon with relish. Really… with relish. Her grandson, 10 year old Mathew, was born with Cystic Fibrosis. Mathew attends St. Mary’s Academy. He plays basketball and was a member of the Youth Football team that won the Superbowl last fall.

“10,000 Heart to Hearts” To Help Local Senior Women Fight Their Top Health Threat

Emeritus at Fillmore Pond Visits to Alert, Assist in Combating Cardiac Disease

Many women don’t realize as they age they become more likely to develop heart disease. To combat this problem, a team from Emeritus at Fillmore Pond is fanning out to personally alert area women age 65 and older to their increased risk disease and provide resources to fight it. Emeritus at Fillmore Pond’s effort is part of “10,000 Heart to Hearts,” a nationwide initiative being conducted by its parent organization Brookdale with the goal of reaching 10,000 older women across the country. Space Still Available For The Minks To Sinks Winter Tag Sale At HAYC3

Who said you can’t have a tag sale in winter?  Rummage through your closet and unload what you don’t need.  Declutter your house! Get rid of your stuff, everything from Minks to Sinks. This indoor tag sale will happen on Saturday, February 28 from 9 am to 1 pm at the HAYC3 Armory. Spaces are available. Vendor forms can be found online at www.hayc3.org.

Finding Information Online

On February 19 at 6:30 pm, the Cheney Library will host the next computer program presented by Sarah McFadden of Cornell Cooperative Extension Rensselaer County. The program will be Searching for Info (+ more) Online. The Internet puts endless information at your fingertips, but sometimes, a quick Google search isn’t enough to get you the results you need. This class will give you tools and tips for finding the best online information for your needs. Learn how to formulate a better search, evaluate a website for its safety and reliability, and save and organize online information for later use. Be sure to bring the electronic item you will be working with. To save a spot call the library at 686-9401. Tarot Workshops At HAYC3

Need guidance on life decisions?  Are you interested in tapping into universal wisdom through Tarot? Sign up for one or all of March’s Tarot Workshop Series.

Taste of Tarot is a great way of being introduced to the Art of Tarot. The introductory class will be held on Tuesday, March 3, from 6 to 8 pm. The cost is $30. If you are interested in expanding on the basics of Tarot then join the Tarot 101 class. This four week workshop will teach participants the meaning of the Tarot Cards, the symbolism of the images in the cards and techniques and everything you need to know to begin reading the cards. This class begins on Friday, March 6, from 6 to 8 pm. The cost is $120.

If you are interested in combining creativity and Tarot then The Art of the Tarot will offer both. Come collage your own Tarot card. This class is on Monday, March 30, from 6 to 8 pm and cost $40.

Private Tarot Readings are also available.  Thity minute sessions are $30 or an hour reading is $60. Instructor Jeannie Thomma has been practicing the ancient arts of Tarot and Palmistry for the last decade. As a master teacher and reader she enjoys exploring the visual symbols of the Tarot with her students and clients, offering them new paths for developing their own intuitive strengths.
