Walter A. Wood Alumni Reunion

The Walter A. Wood Alumni Association will hold its annual reunion dinner on Saturday, June 14, at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps Building. Dinner will be served at 12:30 pm. Special classes to be recognized are the graduating classes of 1964, 1954, 1944 and prior years. Any graduate who has not received a letter and is interested in attending, please call Janice Tate at 518-686-7036. Reservations close on June 7.

GLSP And Bennington Battlefield Historic Site Events

• June 7, Saturday – National Trails Day from 9 am to 12 pm at Grafton Lakes State Park. This fun morning of trail work will be followed by a complimentary raffle and barbecue for all our volunteers. Please pre-register by June 3 for the complimentary barbecue at 279-1155.

• June 7, Saturday – Ribbon Cutting for the Baum Trail at the Bennington Battlefield at 2 pm. This is the end of the trail for Baum, whose defeat at the Battle for Bennington helped set the stage for success at Saratoga. Re-enactors will be present in period costume to help tell the tale along with renowned historian and author Michael Gabriel.

Basket Bingo Bash At The Schaghticoke Fairgrounds

Grab your daubers and come on down to the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds for the Basket Bingo Bash! On Saturday, June 7, doors will open to the public at 5 pm in the New York State Product’s Building; games will begin at 6 pm. The Bash is limited to the first 200 people. The $10 cost of admission includes 18 games plus a chance to win a door prize. This is fun for all ages, so bring the kids. Prizes will consist of various theme baskets donated by local businesses from the surrounding areas and friends of the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds. Each theme basket is valued between $25 and $100. In addition to the regular 18 games, there will also be raffles, special games, 50/50, food, ice cream and more. For more information, call Mary at 518-753-4411 x13 or visit www.schaghticokefair.org. The Schaghticoke Fairgrounds is located at 69 Stillwater Bridge Road, Schaghticoke.

Eagle Bridge – Sergeant Damon C. Eppinette, of Eagle Bridge, NY, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 25, 2014. Sgt. Eppinette served in the United States Marine Corps from August of 1996 to October of 2006. He served as a 2141 AAV Mechanic in the 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion. HFCS Student Council Sponsors Two Blood Drives

On Thursday, May 29, the HFCS Student Council, under the leadership of Mrs. Deb Mabey, will sponsor a blood drive at HFCS from 8 am to 1:30 pm. This is not just for those who work or attend school at HFCS but is open to anyone who meets the criteria.

HFCS competes with all the schools in the Capital District for money for the Scholarship Fund. Schools have to meet a quota of units of blood donated, and the more they exceed it, the more money they earn. HFCS’ goal for the year is 200 pints in two drives, but they fell considerably short in the fall, so let’s help them make up those units so they can receive that Scholarship Fund.

The Student Council has also stepped up to the plate and is sponsoring a community blood drive on Friday, June 6 from 1 to 6 pm at the Hoosick Falls Fire Department. Previously, this drive did not have a sponsor. Thank you, students!
