Summer Bowling Leagues At Barbecue Recreation

Hoosick – Barbara J. Frisbie Baker, 85, a resident of the Danforth Home in Hoosick Falls, NY, passed away unexpectedly on April 22, 2011, at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA. Lions Penny Hunt Winners

The weather was cool, cloudy and windy, but the rain held off and there was a good turn-out for the Lions 50th Annual Penny Hunt on Saturday, April 16. The Town of Hoosick Lions Club was chartered in October of 1960 and has held the Penny Hunt every year since.

Kevin McGuire In ‘Broadway And Beyond’ Concert
Kevin McGuire, the founding Artistic Director of The Theatre Company at Hubbard Hall (TCHH), returns to the area in “Broadway and Beyond,” a one night only concert on Saturday, April 23, at 8 pm at Hubbard Hall. McGuire will be joined by The Richard Cherry Trio, including accompanist Richard Cherry, Richard LaPlante on drums and Tim Patrick on bass.
McGuire, who is directing TCHH’s spring production of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along (May 12 – June 4), will perform classic Broadway show tunes as well as contemporary pop selections.
Prior to establishing The Theatre Company at Hubbard Hall as one of the region’s finest and most acclaimed theatre troupes, McGuire enjoyed a celebrated career in musical theater, playing lead roles on Broadway, and in national and international tours of Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Jane Eyre and The Secret Garden.

Hoosick Town Board Action – The Armory Issue

One of the final issues at the Monday, April 11, Town Board meeting was a discussion about the National Guard closing the Armory and the possible relocation of Town Offices. Supervisor Cipperly said he had a copy of what it cost to run the Armory in 2010. The total cost was $55,549. He noted that some repairs had been made to the furnace in the past and added that one of the churches in town put in a new furnace at a cost of $100,000.
