Football Homecoming: It Doesn’t Get Any Better

Football doesn’t get any more exciting than last Friday’s homecoming game between HFCS and Cambridge HS for the Ken Baker Jug. Excitement built up through the week as everyone talked about the upcoming event. It was the game not to be missed by folks in either community. The late Ken Baker taught and coached at HF and Cambridge Schools. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. He produced championship teams at both schools. Possession of the Ken Baker Jug is a matter of pride, no doubt. Many of his former players were there to cheer on their teams.

Hoosick Falls To Form Water Panel

Hoosick Falls Mayor Matt Monahan announced at the monthly Village Board meeting on Tuesday, October 13, that a panel will be formed to resolve water metering and billing issues. The panel, he said, will be made up of Board members and residents of the Town and Village. Issues before the panel to be resolved include meter billing by August 2010 and adjustments to payments for Village water and sewer used by Town residents.

The Court Clerk went to training October 5 through the 7th. There were 11 classes taken that refreshed and trained the Clerk.

Annual Meeting Of Youth And Community Center Board

The Annual Meeting of the Hoosick Youth and Community Center Board of Directors will be held on Monday, October 19, at 7 pm. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Youth Center, 115 Church Street, Hoosick Falls.

Trick Or Treat For UNICEF

Pilates Classes

Pilates classes have resumed at the Hoosick Youth and Community Center on Tuesday mornings. Instructor Donna Menneto offers two classes each Tuesday, one at 7:30 and one at 8:30 am. Classes are open to anyone of any age and any fitness level. The workout is low impact and will leave participants refreshed, centered and revitalized. There is a weekly fee to participate. For additional information, contact the Youth Center at 518-686-9050.

West Hoosick F.D. Pancake Breakfast

The West Hoosick Fire Department announces an All You Can Eat Breakfast at the firehouse on Sunday, October 18, from 7:30 to 11 am.  This will be our last breakfast for the fall.  The menu includes pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate.  The firehouse is located on Pine Valley Rd. near the intersection of County Routes 109 and 103.  For more information, call the firehouse at 686-1814.

New Hoosick Business Shows Off Facility

VPS Controls held an Open House on Friday to show off their new building in Hoosick. The company moved into their new quarters last Memorial Day weekend. From 1986 until then they had occupied a rented building in South Troy.
