St. Mary’s Academy Middle School Student Council is open to all sixth, seventh and eighth-graders and is moderated by Mrs. Prendergast. Last week the students held an election to select Student Council Board Members to facilitate meetings and events. The results are Mary Peters, Chairperson, and Nicole St. Onge, Anna Restino, Grace Delurey, Justin Lynch, Abigail Brown and Emily Martin, Board Members. Service is an important component of Student Council activities.
The Buskirk Volunteer Fire Department Inc. will once again be hosting its monthly “All you can eat breakfast” at their fire station on Sunday, December 14, from 7:30 to 11 am. The menu includes pancakes, French toast, eggs any style, bacon, sausage, toast and choice of beverage. Breakfasts are held on the second Sunday of each month October through May.
The Hoosick Fire Department will hold its annual tree lighting event at 6 pm on Friday, December 5, at the Hoosick Fire House. Santa will visit, and there will be refreshments provided.
On Tuesday, December 9, at 6 pm, at the Falls Diner, the Kiwanis Club is having a guest speaker from X-Ray Optical Systems. Matthew Cusack, Director of Technology Development at XOS, will speak on world class analyzers developed by XOS to measure sulfur in diesel fuel and other related projects.
