High school seniors who live in the Town of Grafton are invited to apply for the Ethel Simmons Memorial Award. This award of $500 is given to the senior who submits the best essay on some aspect of Grafton history. Students who attend public or private school or are home schooled are eligible to apply.

There will be a book sale on Saturday, March 28, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Brunswick Community Library, 605 Brunswick Road, Eagle Mills. Children’s books, hard cover and paperbacks, videos, dvds, audiobooks, magazines and large print books are for sale. We are packed with donations and former library books with bargains galore! A show case of counted cross stitch embroidery will be held April 3-5 at the Everett Wagar Senior Center in Grafton. The show will feature a spectacular display of the handiwork of Sally Statile of Grafton and her sister, Nancy Stowell. Sally has been engaged with counted cross stitch for 30 yeas, and Nancy has more than 20 years experience. The sisters will be available to meet and talk with other avid cross stitch and needlework people. Hours are Friday, April 3, 4-7 pm, Saturday, April 4, 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday, April 5, 10 am to 3 pm. For more information, please call Sally at 279-0149.

On Saturday, March 7, the Stephentown Youth Commission is going snow tubing at Bousquet Ski Area. If you are interested in attending, please contact Debbie Angley to make arrangements at 733-6178. The cost is $12 per person. Please arrive at the Stephentown Elementary school by 12 pm. Tubing is scheduled from 1 to 3 pm.
Girl Scout Troop 1154 will be selling the much loved and favorite varieties of Girl Scout Cookies on Saturday, March 7. There will be two opportunities to purchase cookies – at Dave’s Market from 10 am to 2 pm and again at the Stephentown Fire Department’s Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner from 5 to 7 pm. Please consider supporting your local Girl Scout Troop by purchasing a box or two. Every sale benefits the Troop by enabling them to continue with activities supporting the Troop.
