Can You Capture My Flag?

October 31, 2008 By eastwickpress

The Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center will be hosting “Can You Capture My Flag?” on Saturday, November 1, from 10 am until 3 pm. The traditional game of Capture the Flag will be combined with skills of stealth and camouflage. The game will play all day using the entire Center as a playing field. Not only will you have to track down the opponents base and get their flag but make it back to your own base without being detected. This will be a game of stealth, cunning and navigation but not running and chasing! Can You Capture My Flag will be led by Dan Yacobellis, a local naturalist who has conducted many wilderness programs at the Dyken Pond Center. This program is open to all ages, and parents are encouraged to play with their children. There is a charge of $10 with all proceeds supporting the Friends of Dyken Pond land protection effort. Pre-registration is encouraged and can be done by calling the Center at 518 658-2055 or by email at  dykenpond@fairpoint.net.

Dyken Pond Center is a Rensselaer County Park open daily during daylight hours for hiking, fishing and non-motor boating. Call 658-2055 for directions and a complete schedule of our fall and winter events.
