PFOA Testing Results Released: 20 Of The 50 Samples Taken In Petersburgh Are Above EPA Limit

On Monday March 14, the Rensselaer County Department of Health released the results of private well testing for PFOA contamination from the wells of 50 private homes, mainly within a half mile of the Taconic plant in Petersburgh. Twenty of the fifty samples contained PFOA at levels higher than the current EPA standard of 100 parts per trillion. Governor Comes To Hoosick To Say “The Filters Are Working!”

Governor Andrew Cuomo visited Hoosick Falls on the morning of Sunday, March 13 for the first time since the water crisis began. He toured the water plant with local officials and then held a press conference at “Command Center” at the old Haynes Ford building.

Cuomo announced that preliminary test results of water coming out of the new carbon filtration system were coming back as “non-detect,” meaning the amount of PFOA in the water is too small to detect. “The good news is that the filters work,” he said. Innovative Art Show Comes To SVHC Corridor Art Gallery
