Hoosick Falls Central School Bowling Team Wins Adirondack League Tournament

Temporary Water Filters Are Delivered

The temporary water treatment system which will remove PFOA from the Hoosick Falls municipal water system was delivered on Tuesday, January 26.

After a pilot study requested by the Village showed a Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filtration system to be very effective in removing PFOA from the water, Village officials searched nationwide for GAC filtration equipment for immediate use in Hoosick Falls, and found one available from Calgon Carbon of Pittsburgh, PA. PFOA Found In Well Water At HFCSD Bus Garage

Carbon Filtration Plans Sent To County Health Department for Approval

A test of the water at the Hoosick Falls School District’s bus garage has found PFOA in the water at a concentration above the EPA Provisional Health Advisory level. The bus garage is 1.2 miles from the School District’s main campus. The water at the school does not have PFOA in it. It is tested regularly, and it is clean. Retired RPI professor David Borton spoke to a full room on Thursday, January 21 about solar energy in general, and about the solar powered boats that he has created in particular. He began by talking about global energy needs, calculating the global need for energy and the potential solar energy available, and finding that there is way more solar energy available globally than we need – it’s just a matter of harvesting it and making it available in the forms needed.
