Two Men Arrested On Gun Charges In Hoosick Falls

A Hoosick Falls man was arrested last Friday at a home on Second Street. Jonathan Austin, 35, address listed as Elm Street, was placed under arrest at 3:30 pm by State Police. Another 24 year old unidentified man was arrested, but details of that arrest were not released. Both men were taken to Rensselaer County Jail.

Birthday Party In New Lebanon For The Reluctant Reformer

Samuel Tilden, Governor of New York, Presidential Candidate and New Lebanon’s favorite son, was born in that town on February 9, 1814. To celebrate his 200th birthday, just a bit belatedly, the New Lebanon Historical Society hosted a party for the community last Sunday at the Shatford Park Pavilion. The bash included a pig roast, a vast and wonderful assortment of potluck foods, birthday cakes based on a Tilden family recipe and music provided by Wally Stock playing a collection of period recordings on his 1902 Columbia phonograph.

Hoosick Passes Moratorium On Family Subdivisions

The Town of Hoosick Board held a Public Hearing on Thursday, September 18, to discuss the Town’s Family Subdivision law. The hearing was the result of an issue that recently arose when Brian Boll of Johnson Hill Road appeared before the Planning Board requesting six lots of his 67 acre property be set aside for a family subdivision. The Board granted the request. Subsequently, the lots were put up for sale.

Grafton Town Board Special Meeting

The Grafton Town Board held a Special Meeting on Monday September 22. They passed a resolution to pay all bills as audited (which they had not been able to do at the regular meeting two weeks earlier) and granted a travel trailer variance to A. McElroy and J. Doyle for their property at 6 Firetower Road.
New Trails At The Bennington Battlefield

For three days, from September 10 through 12, a group of 40 young adults from the Student Conservation Association (SCA)/AmeriCorps that work throughout the Hudson Valley Region volunteered to build three miles of trails at the Bennington Battlefield in Walloomsac. During the trail building they removed invasive plants, protected critical habitat and plainly marked the new trails. Scouts Attend The Battle Of Plattsburgh War Of 1812 Camporee

The boys of Boy Scout Troop 222 traveled 350 miles round trip last weekend to attend the Twin Rivers Council’s War of 1812 Bicentennial Camporee in Plattsburgh, NY. Twelve Scouts and their leaders set out and traveled up to the North Country in hopes of seeing the Battle re-enactment from the War of 1812 and boy they did. Stephentown Summer Camp Combined Fun And Learning
