Fatal Car Accident on Route 7

As of Wednesday, May 14, Yvonne Keefe, Public Affairs officer for the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office reported that the investigation into the fatal car accident on May 7 that took the life of George T. New Lebanon Town Board Action – A Circle Has No End

Two women were whispering in the audience at Tuesday’s New Lebanon Board meeting.

“I’m so tired of hearing about Covent Circle,” said one.

“I know!” said the other. “When will it end?”

And that is probably how most of New Lebanon feels about the little road that wants to be a Town road. Will it ever end?

Town Of Hoosick Board Action – Route 7 To Be Repaved

At the Monday, May 12, meeting of the Hoosick Town Board, Supervisor Mark Surdam announced that beginning on Tuesday, May 27, traffic will be reduced to one lane at times on Route 7 from Pittstown to the new bridge over the Hoosic River in Hoosick while State Highway crews perform preventative maintenance and paving on that section of roadway.

Grafton Town Board Action – May 2014

The Grafton Town Board meeting on May 12 began with the highway report. Highway Superintendent Herb Hasbrouck said Babcock Lake Road suffered a lot of damage this past winter. It’s a County Road, and the County has tried to patch it, but apparently they do not have the resources to fully repair it. The County Engineer said he would need an allocation of 600 to 800 tons of asphalt mix to repair it properly. Code Enforcement Officer Tom Withcuskey said, “It was very bad this winter. They came out and worked on it and patched some holes, but it still has some bad holes in it.”

Berlin Town Board – Exceptionally Quiet

When Dog Control Officer Doug Goodermote gave his report at the Berlin Town Board meeting on Thursday, May 8, he said that “a few dogs went missing but everything has been quiet, exceptionally quiet.” If Goodermote has so little to say you can guess that the whole, 30 minute meeting was exceptionally quiet. New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School To Host Fourth Annual Memorial Day Assembly On May 23

On Friday, May 23, at 9 am, New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School will be hosting its fourth annual Memorial Day Assembly to honor our servicemen and women and all who gave their lives in defense of our country. All veterans and current members of any branch of the military are invited to join the American Legion Post #1236 of New Lebanon and the Berkshire Chapter 65 Vietnam Veterans of America in the high school gymnasium as our honored guests.

Family and community members are also welcome and encouraged to attend the festivities in memory of our fallen heroes and in celebration of those who serve.

The guest speaker will be Lee Godfroy IV of the United States Marine Corps, NYS Trooper and 2000 graduate of New Lebanon High School.

Memorial Ceremony At The Hoosick Rural Cemetery

New Lebanon Country Market In New Location

This year’s summertime Sunday market for local foods and products is joining forces with a local farm. The New Lebanon Country Market will be held at Windswept Farms at 36 Old Rt. 20, New Lebanon. It will run from Sunday, June 1, through Sunday, September 28, from 10 am to 2 pm. It will feature locally grown fruits and vegetables, locally raised meats (beef, pork and chicken), homemade pies and jams, fresh baked goods and breads, locally made arts, crafts and jewelry and much, much more.

Each market will feature some form of fun family entertainment including but not limited to hayrides, a kids’ arts and crafts area, live music, a petting zoo and animal fun and yoga.
