November 15, 2013 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
While most Veterans Day ceremonies honor veterans from World War I on, the ceremony in front of the Cartakers House at the Bennington Battlefield addressed an earlier era. “You are standing on hallowed ground,” Walloomsac Sons of the American Revolution told the gathering. “It was right here on this spot the Battle of Bennington was fought.” Sheaff led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Berlin Rescue Squad And Fire District Needs Your Help

November 15, 2013 By eastwickpress

submitted by Sandi Slattery, Chair, Berlin Board of Fire Commissioners

Just a friendly reminder that the Berlin Rescue Squad still needs individuals interested in becoming members of our volunteer ambulance service. Training materials are provided and mileage will be reimbursed. We also offer LOSAP (Length of Service Award Program) to members who meet training and response requirements. Our continued viability depends on recruiting and retaining new members. Please contact Captain Tammy Osterhaut at 658-2924 for a membership application.

There are also two Berlin Board of Fire Commissioner seats to be filled in the upcoming election. Maybe you are unable to be a member of the Fire Company but still you want to participate in serving your community…being a Commissioner just might be for you. Meetings are held monthly, and the Commissioners are responsible for the fiduciary affairs, as well as setting up policies and procedures, of the Fire District.

Again, training is provided and paid for by the District.

Remember: Volunteerism is the Spirit of America!
