Kevin Harding Jensen

Stephentown – Kevin Harding Jensen, 45, of Grottoes, VA,  died suddenly on Sunday, January 20, from injuries received in a two car accident in the Town of Stephentown, NY. Born December 19, 1967, in Detroit, MI,  he was the son of Barbara Harding Farah of Lompoc, CA, and Paul C. Jensen.

Many Attend The Grafton Lakes State Park Winter Festival

Fatal Collision On Route 22 In Stephentown

A head-on collision in Stephentown on Sunday evening, January 20, resulted in the death of a Virginia man. Three people from New York City in the other car were seriously injured. State Police reported that Kevin H. Jensen, 45, of Grottoes, VA, was driving a white 2000 Plymouth Voyager north on Route 22 when for some unknown reason he crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a gray 2011 Lexus SUV. Jensen was pronounced dead at the scene by the Rensselaer County Medical Examiner’s office.

Rabid Fox Attacks Three People In New Lebanon

A fox which attacked three people in New Lebanon has tested positive for rabies.
The attack occurred on Saturday, January 12, near the junction of West Street and Route 20. At around 6:30 pm Parks Maintenance Supervisor Scott Larabee returned to his home and was set upon by the animal.

Petersburgh Town Board Action – Petersburgh Condemns Jones Garage

Petersburgh Building Inspector Doug Hull presented a report to the Town Board at its meeting on Monday, January 21, on the Jones Garage (on the north side of Route 2 in the middle of town). It said he inspected the building on December 18 and declared it unsafe for occupancy. He posted signs to that effect on the building at that time.

Stephentown Town Board Action – In Good Financial Shape

The Town of Stephentown ended the year 2012 in pretty good shape financially. Some of that was due to the weather. As Highway Superintendent Aldie Goodermote pointed out at the Town Board meeting Monday, “We had no winter.” That meant there was almost no overtime for the road crew. Town Supervisor Larry Eckhardt noted that there was $87,000 in the budget for payroll for snow removal but only about $53,000 was spent. Also payments from FEMA turned out to be a good bit higher than expected. And in the General Fund, Eckhardt said, receipts from the sales tax and the mortgage tax were considerably more than what was budgeted. For sales tax $250,000 was budgeted but $304,000 was received. Cancer Blog For Teens Launched As Part Of A Berlin Student’s Project

Teens fighting cancer or who have been affected by the dreaded illness in some way now have an online place to blog and share their experiences. The American Cancer Society HopeClub blog was launched this week by the local chapter of the HopeClub and Tech Valley High School senior Ashley Moon, who created the blog as part of her senior project. Irish Eyes Are Smilin’

According to Marie O’Neill, one of the St. Patrick’s Day events organizers, the Irish Basket Bingo at Immaculate Conception Church Hall on Saturday afternoon, January 19, went very well. Between 85 to 90 people participated in the fun day. Bingo caller was Ric DiDonato.
