Executive Session Held With CEO

The Petersburgh Town Board held a special meeting on Monday, February 23. With only one town resident in attendance, the Board immediately convened an executive session with the Code Enforcement Officer, Martin Conboy. The executive session lasted 95 minutes. At the conclusion of the executive session, the Board immediately made a motion to adjourn. Prior to adjournment, Supervisor Krahforst indicated that the purpose of executive session was to review and discuss the job description for the Code Enforcement Officer, and to discuss communication between Town departments, specifically between the Building Department and the Town Board.

Petersburgh Town Board Action – Highway Department Critic Sounds Off

The Petersburgh Town Board meeting began with a lengthy complaint from Dayfoot Road resident Mike Dundas about what he saw as the shortcomings of Highway Superintendent Rob Cottrell and the job he is doing of clearing the roads. Dundas’ complaint was wide-ranging, from complaints about the clearing of his own road to practices of the Highway Department that he observed and thought to be inefficient. Fun And Prizes At Petersburgh Ice Fishing Derby

The Petersburgh Rod and Gun Club held its 4th Annual Ice Fishing Derby at Dyken Pond on February 7, with 74 adults and seven children participating.

Winners are:

Adult Class

Perch

1st  Anthony Ray – 9¾”

2nd Dave Yerke – 9¾”

3rd  Luke Palmer – 9¼”

Pickerel

1st Bill Gundrum Jr. – 20½”

2nd Scott Pelletier – 20¼”

3rd Andre Jones – 20”

Adult payout was $225 for first, $100 for second, and $50 for third.

Children (12 and under)

Winners: 

Pickerel

1st  Daune Harrison Jr – 17½”

2nd  Lillian von Schilgen – 17¼”

3rd Phil Oakes II – 15½”

Cash prizes were $20, $10 and $5 for first, second and third.

Sponsored Prizes donated by local people and businesses were also given out to entrants. First place went to Pete Elie. He won a $150 Cabela’s gift card.  Second  place, a truckload of wood, went to Everton Headley, and third place, a Cabela’s $50 gift card, to Angel Matte.

Raffle tickets were also sold. The 50/50 raffle was won by Jess Babcock.

The Derby included free hot dogs and hamburgs at the end of the event. It was a fun day for all.

Notice To The Residents Of Berlin And Petersburgh

It has come to my attention that some users of the Berlin Transfer Station are upset because the attendants are asking to see their Transfer Station permit.

Since the Transfer Station began on May 1, 1994, it has been a requirement to have a permit to use the facility.  The sign at the entrance states this clearly.

Petersburgh Boy Scout Troop 222 Has Successful Day At Klondike Derby

Boy Scout Troop 222 out of Petersburgh entered two sleds in the Twin Rivers Council, Mahikan District Klondike Derby this year held at the Rotary Scout Reservation in Poestenkill, NY. Petersburgh Library Events

The Petersburgh Public Library will have another Lego building event on Wednesday, February 11  from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.  Everyone is invited to stop by the library and use your imagination to build Lego creations.  The ones built last month are on display in the library and will be either dismantled or added to on Wednesday.

Drop in Valentine’s Day craft will be Tuesday, February 10 from 3:30 to 5:30, Wednesday, February 11 from 4:30 – 6:30 or Saturday, February 14 from 10 till noon.  Stop by to make a woven heart basket.

Everyone who enjoys knitting or crocheting or would like to learn is invited to come to the library on Wednesdays at 4 pm when the knitting group meets. It is fun to see the projects everyone is working on.

The library book discussion group will meet on Wednesday, February 11 at 7 pm.  Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand will be discussed.  Please join us for the discussion.

Preschool story hour is held on Tuesday mornings at 11 and will meet on February 10 and 24.  All preschoolers and their caregivers are invited to attend.  February 10 will be a Valentine’s Day celebration.

Petersburgh Sunshine Seniors Present Andy Cooney – Get YourTickets!

The Petersburgh Sunshine Seniors is  presenting highly acclaimed Irish Singer, Andy Cooney,  at the Petersburgh Veteran’s Memorial Community Center  (PVMCC) on Friday April 10 from 7 to 9 pm.

From his sold-out appearance at Carnegie Hall on December 8, 2009, Andy Cooney has taken the Irish-American music scene by storm. He was christened by The New York Times as “Irish America’s Favorite Son”. His outstanding voice and dynamic stage presence makes him a favorite with audiences as he renders songs ranging from all-time favorites like “Galway Bay” and “Danny Boy” to songs from his hit records “The Irish Wedding Song”, “Boston Rose” and “Daughter of Mine”. Andy’s talent and versatility provide the ability to deliver a song directly to the hearts of his listeners.

Upscale desserts prepared by chef Justin Rice will be available for purchase.  A portion of those proceeds will go to the Everett Wagar Senior Center food  pantry.

Get your tickets early. A minimum of 60 tickets need to be sold for the show to go on.   Tickets bought before March 15th will include a free raffle ticket.Tickets are available at Papas Pizza, The Petersburgh Library and Hewitt’s Market. Hudson Valley Students Named to Deans’ List for Fall 2014 Term

More than 1300 students at Hudson Valley Community College were recently named to the college’s Deans’ List for the Fall 2014 term. Students named to the Dean’s List have a term grade point average between 3.0 to 3.49.

Eric Kaufmann of Hoosick, who is studying in the Electrical Construction and Maintenance academic program.

Lajuana Berry of Petersburgh, who is studying in the Individual Studies academic program.

Tyler Gagnon of Petersburgh, who is studying in the Business Administration academic program.

Brigitte Goldstein of Petersburgh, who is studying in the Individual Studies academic program.

Brandy Morine of Petersburgh, who is studying in the Early Childhood academic program.

Erika Pelletier of Petersburgh, who is studying in the Early Childhood academic program.
