Thomas Margiotta Was Named To Dean’s List At The Univ. of New Haven

Thomas Margiotta of Petersburgh, NY was named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Haven in New Haven,Conn.for the Fall 2014 semester. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean’s List.

Nicole Hensler Of Petersburg Named To The University Of Rhode Island’s Fall 2014 Dean’s List

The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce that Nicole Breanne Hensler of Petersburgh, NY, was named to the Dean’s List. for the Fall 2014.

Students who have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average qualify for the Dean’s List. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.30 quality point average.

Dickhaus Named To President’s List At Western New England University

Brittany N. Dickhaus of Petersburgh, NY has been named to the President’s List at Western New England University in Springfield, Mass. for the fall semester of 2014. Dickhaus is working towards a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Students are named to the President’s List for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.80 or higher.

Petersburgh Planning Board Action – Mobile Home Ordinance Revisited

The Petersburgh Planning Board began its meeting on January 26 with a public hearing on a minor family subdivision proposed by Raymond and Genevieve Bogucki. This would divide their 185 acre lot into one parcel of 4.9 acres containing the house and garage and another lot containing the remaining acreage. Both lots have plenty of road frontage on Hill Hollow Road.

Troop 222’s Day In Albany In December

Troop 222 spent December planning a full day visit to the Capitol in Albany, NYS Police Aviation Unit and the Troop G Headquarters in Latham. The Scouts of Troop 222 along with the Cub Scouts of Pack 911 spent the morning of December 29 touring the NYS Capital Building. Petersburgh Rod & Gun Club Hosting Fourth Annual Ice Fishing Derby

Come out with family and friends and enjoy the great outdoors with competition. The Petersburgh Rod & Gun Club will host its Fourth Annual Ice Fishing Derby on February 7 from 6 am to 3 pm. There will be cash prizes for perch, walleye and pickerel and many other prizes.

The entry fee is $10 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and under. Participants can pre-register at one of the following local sponsors – Papa’s Pizza, Rt. 2 Petersburgh (658-2700), Hewitts’s Market, Elm Street, Berlin (658-2801) or Vonadeau Wine and Spirits, Main Street, Berlin (658-2450) or register at the dam at 5 am on the morning of the event. Parking is available at the Dyken Pond Environmental Center.

Petersburgh Town Board Action – Youth Group Visits

The Petersburgh Town Board did not have a lot of pressing business before it this week, but it had two audiovisual presentations.

Petersburgh Sunshine Seniors Fundraiser

The Petersburgh Sunshine Seniors is having a fundraiser by selling tickets to the Harold Ford “Spirit of Johnny Cash” show at the Bennington Elks Club on January 31 at 7 pm. This show will be even better than the one Ford did at PVMCC in May because along with Laura Lucy as June Carter Cash it will also include the entire Cash band.

Pre-show tickets cost $22 and are available through Terri Taylor 518-658-2468, the Petersburgh Library, Papa’s Pizzeria and Hewitt’s Market in Berlin. A portion of the proceeds of this sale will be donated to the Petersburgh Sunshine Seniors. Sales at the door will be limited, and the cost will be $25.
