Harvest Craft & Halloween Bazaar

The PVMCC will host a Harvest Craft & Halloween Bazaar in the Veterans Memorial Hall in Petersburgh  on October 25, from 5 to 8 pm.

Please come and celebrate. Children will decorate cookies, pumpkins, etc. Snacks will be provided. At dark we will do a Jack-o’-lantern lighting. Costumes are optional.

Bring a baked item for judging (optional). The winner will receive a prize.

Curragh At The Music and Art Café

The Music and Art Café at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center will present Curragh on Saturday, November  1, at 7 pm. Curragh is a group of seasoned musicians, Peter Jones, fiddle, Hilary Schrauf, fiddle, bodhran, and vocals, Eric Everson, bouzouki and guitar and Kara Doyle, Uilleann pipes and penny whistle, who have played throughout New York and surrounding locations for over twenty years. Their programs present the best in Celtic music with jigs, reels, hornpipes, airs, set dances and waltzes.

Jumping To Conclusions: Charges Filed Against Callie Crisp

NY State Police were called just after midnight on Thursday, September 25, by Bea Peterson from the Eastwick Press office and responded, in the early morning hours, to a  number of other calls about a horse wandering around on Route 2 in Petersburgh. Not knowing whose horse it was, the Troopers called Lisa DeMayo of Bonnie Lea Farm in Williamstown, MA, who came out in the middle of the night to take the horse back to her farm.

Petersburgh Fire Auxiliary Charlie Dogs And Can Auction

The Petersburgh Fire Auxiliary will host one of its annual Charlie Hot Dog fund-raisers on Friday, October 10, at the Fire House. This year we will be combining it with our popular Can Auction as well. Both events will begin at 4 pm and run until 6 pm.

The cost for the hot dogs remains the same at $9 per dozen, $4.50 ½ dozen or $.75 each. If you’d like to pre-order your dogs, please call Janet Snyder at 339-7311 or 658-3053 prior to the 10th.

Those who stop by and participate in the Can Auction will have the opportunity to win some wonderful items and/or gift certificates graciously donated by local vendors for just $ .25 a chance.

Scouts Attend The Battle Of Plattsburgh War Of 1812 Camporee

The boys of Boy Scout Troop 222 traveled 350 miles round trip last weekend to attend the Twin Rivers Council’s War of 1812 Bicentennial Camporee in Plattsburgh, NY. Twelve Scouts and their leaders set out and traveled up to the North Country in hopes of seeing the Battle re-enactment from the War of 1812 and boy they did. Knitting Group

The Petersburgh Public Library knitting group resumes meeting for the fall on Wednesday, October 1, at 4 pm. All knitters are welcome as well as anyone interested in learning how to knit. Yarn and needles are provided if you would just like to give it a try without making any monetary investment.

Story Hour

Preschoolers and their care-givers are invited to story hour on Tuesdays at 11 am. On September 30 we are continuing our transportation theme with airplanes, and on October 7 stories will feature trains. On October 14 we head into fall with apples.

Book Group 

You are invited to come to the book discussion group on Wednesday, October 8, at 7 pm to discuss the book Wonder by R. J. Palacio. Any young people who have read the book are encouraged to come for the discussion.

Copies of the book are available at the Library for you to take home and read.

Petersburgh Town Board Action – Transfer Station Contract Accepted

The Petersburgh Town Board voted to accept Berlin’s offer and continue using the Berlin Transfer Station, pending approval of contract language for a new agreement between the towns. The monthly rental fee would be reduced from the current $1,000 per month to $700 per month, and the existing revenue-sharing arrangements would remain in place.
