Pelletier joined other Delhi students majoring in carpentry, electrical, architecture and construction technology and management to provide skilled assistance for the recovery efforts during the college spring break, March 2-9. Petersburgh Town Board Action – A Reprieve For The Former Jones Garage?

March 22, 2013 By eastwickpress

by Alex Brooks
A public hearing was held on the Town’s plan to demolish the former Jones Garage on Main St., because the Building Inspector has found it structurally deficient. The owner of the building, Dan Mitri, was there and he said he had hired a contractor to stabilize the building, but the contractor couldn’t start work until June. Mitri said he will remove some heavy equipment that is in the building, and secure the building so no one can get in, within the next few weeks.

Petersburgh Public Library News

March 22, 2013 By eastwickpress

The Petersburgh Public Library continues to hold pre-school story hour on Tuesday mornings at 11 am. On March 26 we will be having stories with the letter “M” theme, and on April 9 join us for stories about Owls.  There will be no story hour on April 2 because of the school vacation.
The book discussion group is reading Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo.  The book will be discussed on Monday, April 8 at 7:30 pm.  Everyone is invited to stop by the Library and pick up a copy of the book and join us for the discussion.
Missing DVDs
The Library has DVDs which can be signed out of the Library for seven days. This has been a service we have provided for quite a few years now. In the last few months there have been one or more individuals who have been abusing this service by taking DVDs without signing them out and never returning them. There have been over 35 DVDs which have disappeared from the Library in the last three months and many additional more in the preceding months. We would ask the public if they are aware of any movies which belong to the Library to please return them in our video drop or bring them in to the Library. We would like to make these movies available to everyone in our community.

Petersburgh Honor Roll Starts On Phase Two

March 15, 2013 By eastwickpress

Plans are underway to construct stone benches, a semicircular patio and a central flower bed in front of the Veterans Honor Roll in Petersburgh.
The monument was constructed in 2007. It was made possible thanks to the generous donations of labor, time and over $10,000 contributed by many people in the community.
For Phase 2, the labor for the benches, patio and flower bed will, once again, be donated by Terry Lamphere and Rebekah Hartman. The Petersburgh Highway Department has agreed to help with the site preparation and use of their equipment to help set some of the large stones. The capstones for the benches are already on hand, but an additional $3,500 is needed to pay for the Goshen Stone for the Patio and the mortar mix.
We hope that The Petersburgh Community will continue to help show appreciation to our veterans by contributing to the Honor Roll Fund. Mail checks to Honor Roll Fund, c/o PVMCC, P.O. Box 516, Petersburgh, NY, 12138.
