Troop 222’s Wreath Sale Successful

Boy Scouts from Troop 222 in Petersburgh sold wreaths as a fundraiser on Sunday, November 18, at the Stewart’s shops in Berlin and Hoosick. The boys had a very successful sale, and they thank everyone who purchased wreaths or made donations to the Troop. Troop 222 Wreath Fundraiser

Boy Scout Troop 222 out of Petersburgh will be holding a fundraiser selling Christmas Wreaths on Sunday, November 18, at two Stewart’s locations locally. The Scouts will be at the Stewart’s at the corner of Rts. 22 and 7 in Hoosick and at the Stewart’s in Berlin from 9 am to 2 pm. The Scouts from Troop 222 will have an assortment of wreathes starting at $20 each for sale. Orders can also be placed directly with the Scoutmaster, Jim Akers, at 518-728-0352.

Petersburgh Adopts 2013 Budget With 4.25% Tax Increase

What began as a Public Hearing on Petersburgh’s Preliminary Budget turned into another budget workshop after errors were discovered in the budget document which, when corrected, would have led to a tax levy increase larger than the Board had intended. The Board went through it again and made more cuts and ended up with a tax levy increase of 4.25%.

PVMCC Veterans Day Supper

The annual PVMCC Veterans Day Covered Dish Supper is at 6 pm this Saturday, November 10, at the Veterans Hall, 71 Main Street, in Petersburgh.
The whole community is invited to  join us in honor and memory of our veterans. The Two Bits String Band and Friends will provide music through dinner and into the evening. Please bring a dish to share, and ,if you like, a dollar for the 50/50 raffle to benefit the Hall. Doors open at 5:30. Admission is free for all. For more information call Jeanne at 518-658-3953.

Hoosick/Petersburgh – Mr. Karl Christensen, 83, a resident of Whitney Lane, Wilmington, VT, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Born in Hoosick, NY, on December 27, 1928, Karl was the son of Amdi and Edna (Eagle) Christensen. He attended Hoosick Falls Schools.

Petersburgh Budget Heading Towards A 5% Tax Levy Increase

Although the Petersburgh budget for 2013 has not been finalized, the Board has held two budget workshops and appears to be heading toward a budget that would increase the tax levy by about 5%.  The budget as it stood at the end of the second budget workshop was slightly below a 5% increase. The most recent draft shows an increase slightly above 5%

Local Scout Participates In The Regional Emergency Medical Organization Drill

On Saturday, October 27, at the Albany County International Airport Michael Zlotnick from Troop 222 volunteered as a victim of an airplane crash. He was one of about 98 other victim volunteers made up of other Scouts, college and high school students and community members. The Regional Emergency Medical Organization Drill (REMO) is one that is required every three years by the FAA and is a good opportunity to evaluate the area’s response to a MCI (Mass Casualty Incident).
