Petersburgh Fire Department Installation

The Petersburgh Fire Department held its 2012 Installation Dinner on Saturday, April 28. A fine dinner was provided by caterer Melanie Teliska, and music was provided by D.J. John McEnerny. Fire Department Chaplain Walt Knightes provided a brief Invocation before the meal and a Benediction after.

Petersburgh Scouts In Camporee

Boy Scout Troop 222 from Petersburgh will be participating, along with hundreds of other fellow scouts, in the Mahakin District Spring camporee being held May 4 to 6 at the Grafton Lake State Park in Grafton. Troop 222 will be attending the three day event that will include camping, a free carnival midway, a park service project, the annual tug of war, an adult Dutch oven competition and a campfire with skits. The public is invited to enjoy all the scouting adventures and activities. Former and alumni Scouts are encouraged to join the fun. Most activities will occur on Saturday, May 5, from 9 am to 4 pm.

The Petersburgh Public Library annual Plant, Book and Bake Sale will be held Saturday, May 19, from 9 am to 1 pm. Donations of plants and baked goods would be greatly appreciated. Proceeds from the sale will help fund the summer reading program, the purchase of audio books and electronic books for the Kindle®, Nook® and other electronic devices.

Petersburgh – Alice M. Brock, 96, of Route 2, Petersburgh, NY, died on Saturday morning, April 21, 2012, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center in Hoosick Falls, NY. Born in Petersburgh on May 5, 1915, and a lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late Porter and Nellie Jones Crandall. She was the loving wife of the late Claude L. Brock, who died on June 18, 1985. They were married on May 14, 1938

Petersburgh Town Board Action – April 2012

Petersburgh Supervisor Siegfried Krahforst said he and Town Highway Superintendent Ray Harrison met with the County Highway Engineer about the project to replace the bridge that carries Broken Wheel Road over the Little Hoosic River. Krahforst said that to keep the project on track it has to be in the works in 2013 and start construction in 2014. If the Town does not keep to this schedule, it will lose the funding. I am shocked that the Berlin Board of Education did not approve of the Bond.
