At its meeting on Monday, September 19, the Petersburgh Town Board discussed the wording of a letter they intend to send out to all Town residents about the need to get building permits for their construction projects.

Rensselaer Land Trust October Events

October 1, Saturday – Hike Up and Down the Hollows at 9 am. This free hike will go up the central portion of the Taconic Crest Trail, ascending via Mattison Hollow past waterfalls and descending via Robinson Hollow. This is a strenuous seven mile hike with steep uphill and downhill sections. Wear boots or sturdy shoes. Bring lunch, snacks and plenty of water. Prepare for cool and windy conditions. I would like to thank all the guys from the highway deparment for a great job they have been doing on fixing our road. Our road was one of the hardest hit from Hurrican Irene. They have done a really great job in getting things back to normal.

Petersburgh Annual Turkey Shoot

It’s that time of the year again!  Our turkey shoots will be held on September 25 and October 2 (rain date October 9).  Bring the whole family so they can cheer you on while you compete to win a turkey.  You all can enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and peppers, homemade pies, baked beans, popcorn – just to name a few.  We will also have our summer-long 50/50, plus other raffles.  See you at 12 on the 25th and 2nd – Scriven Road.  Shotguns and rifles only – no 10 gauge shot guns.

Berlin Area Girl Scouts Seek Members

Girl Scouts Troop #1070 (4th graders) is looking for new members to join the Troop. Meetings are held twice monthly after school (in the Berlin/Petersburgh area)

The winners of the Mountain Chapel Fishing Derby on Aug 27 were –  1st place, Caleb Hendricks from Berlin, 2nd place, Jeffery Curtis from Petersburgh, 3rd place, Sharon Strock from Grafton. Junior Division – 1st place, Jordyn Travis, 2nd place, Nate Hendricks, 3rd place, Seth Hendricks.
