Broken Wheel Campground at 61 Broken Wheel Road in Petersburgh will be participating in National Get Outdoors Day and will be having an Open House on Saturday, June 11, from 1 to 5 pm.

Matina Stephanie Patsos Graduates From Juniata College

Three Hundred and twenty-one seniors were awarded Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees on Saturday, May 14, during ceremonies marking Juniata College’s 133rd commencement.
Matina Stephanie Patsos of Petersburgh graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in digital media and media communications. Patsos is a 2007 graduate of Berlin Junior/Senior High School. While at Juniata, Matina made Dean’s List and completed an honors thesis, “In the Blink of an eye: Exploring the Process of Digital Editing.” Patsos studied abroad in Cheltenham, UK, for two semesters. She also worked at the Digital Media Studio for summer 2009. Patsos is the daughter of Judy Patsos.

UAlbany Announces Winter 2010 Graduates

The University at Albany announced this month that during its Winter Commencement on Dec. 5, 2010, 561 bachelor’s degrees and 434 graduate degrees, including 285 master’s and 69 doctoral degrees, were awarded. Psychology and sociology were the top majors for undergraduate degree candidates.
The following area students graduated from the University at Albany during the winter commencement ceremonies.

How Much Is A Trillion Dollars?

Most people you ask will tell you that they can’t comprehend how much a trillion dollars really is – too many zeros. There are 12 zeros.
Our national debt is over 14 trillion dollars and growing by nearly 2 billion every day. Our dollar is now worth only $.79 and decreasing.
The federal government is borrowing, printing and spending money like there is no tomorrow.
So, my curiosity got the best of me, and I sat down with my calculator and micrometer to figure out how high a stack of $100 bills it would take to equal 1 trillion dollars.

Charlie Dog Fund-Raiser

The Petersburgh Fire Auxiliary is having a Charlie Dog Fund-raiser at the Petersburgh Fire Dept. on Friday, June 3, beginning at 4 pm and lasting until the dogs are gone.  Dogs cost $.75 ea., ½ dozen for $ 4.75 and one dozen for $9. Don’t miss out! Order your dogs ahead of time by calling Janet at 658-3053.
We ask the Community to support us in our fund-raising efforts and allow us to cook dinner for them.

You Don’t Shoot Turkeys In The Rain

The Petersburgh Rod and Gun Club had to cancel its May 15 Turkey Shoot due to rain…….so now it is rescheduled it for Sunday, June 5, at 12 noon at the Clubhouse on Scriven Road.
Remember, there are turkeys to win plus good food – homemade baked beans, hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade pies and brownies, just to name a few.

Petersburgh Town Board Action – Closing Town Park Temporarily

The Town’s insurer visited the Town Park recently and asked the Town to immediately fix several things there. The circular plastic slide is  broken and needs to be removed; S links on the swings are worn and need to be replaced; sawdust needs to be put down under the swings, and the seats are missing from some of the benches, so the remaining posts need to be removed.
