Petersburgh – Fred A. Humphrey, 76, of Russell Road, Petersburgh, NY, died on Thursday, April 14, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY, under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.

Petersburgh – Mabel Alice Klein passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 10, 2011, in Lehigh Acres, FL. A memorial service for Mabel A. Klein will be held at the Petersburgh United Methodist Church, Petersburgh, NY, on Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Visitation starts at noon followed by the service at 1 pm. Petersburgh Woman Wins Lottery Prize
The New York Lottery announced Monday that Diana Gates of Petersburgh won $10,000 on the Lottery’s Money Ball Bingo instant game. Gates’s winning ticket was purchased at the Stewart’s Shops in Berlin.

Pinewood Derby: Flippin’ Fast Fun

Cub Scout Pack 911 held its 16 double-elimination Pinewood Derby at the Petersburgh Baptist Church on Saturday, March 12. Over 65 people attended the event, nearly doubling last year’s attendance. Ten years ago, Judy Patsos, Choir Director of the United Methodist Church, Berlin, got some Easter music in the mail. Christmas being so honored with music, Judy wondered if the same could be done with the holiest of Christian holidays, so she invited singers from churches in Berlin, Petersburgh, Stephentown and Grafton to join together to perform an Easter Cantata.

Mark your calendars! The Petersburgh Public Library will be holding its annual Plant, Book and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 21, from 9 am to 1 pm. Generous donations of plants, books and baked goods will be gratefully accepted the day prior or morning of the sale. If needed, pots will be available at the Library to assist with the transport of donated plants.
