Why is it that the Berlin School Board and the Eastwick Press, although being most aggressive in communicating to the public about relatively peripheral Berlin School District issues like lead paint and the periodic Kabuki dance over the school budget votes, why is it that they utterly fail to communicate with the voters about the one issue that vastly more significantly affects the taxes we pay, namely the impending contract negotiations with the Berlin Teachers Association?

Volunteers Kristy and Steve Lemiska have organized an awesome dance for our community teens. We will be holding a Starry Night-themed Teen Dance on Saturday, February 19, from 7 to 9 pm. The Petersburgh Public Library is having an afternoon/evening Wii program for kids aged 10 to 16.

Petersburgh – Donald Seward Hewitt, Jr., 72, of Route 22, Petersburgh, NY, died on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at the White River Junction VA Medical Center in White River Jct., VT.
Born June 14, 1938, in Petersburgh, he was the son of the late Donald S. and Lydia Quackenbush Hewitt. A lifelong resident of Petersburgh, Don graduated from Hoosick Falls High School and was a member of the Petersburgh Baptist Church. Roof Collapse In Petersburgh

A section of roof on one of the buildings at Taconic in Petersburgh collapsed from snow load on Tuesday, February 8, at 8:10 am. The building affected is across the road from Taconic’s main manufacturing plant, and it is used for inventory storage.
The company reacted quickly. By noon Wednesday, the affected area, a 60′ x16′ section of the shed, had been removed, the inventory formerly stored there had been relocated to other buildings on Taconic’s campus and cleanup operations were in full swing.
