Petersburgh Town Board Action – January 2011

The Petersburgh Town Board confronted the inadequacies of the heating system in the Veterans Memorial Hall at their meeting this week. Previous to the 2009 renovation, the heat was delivered through ducts in the floor and returned through ducts near the ceiling. When the heating system was replaced as part of the 2009 renovation, the system was designed to supply warm air through the ducts above. Music & Art Café Starts 2011 With Local Talent

The Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center (PVMCC) will be kicking off the 2011 Season of Music & Art Café on Friday, January 28. This month’s featured artists are Carolyn and Molly Durnin of Grafton. This dynamic mother-daughter duo performs live original and cover music that you won’t want to miss. The event runs from 7 to 9 pm with light refreshments available for concession. Admission is $5 per person, $8 per couple and $10 per family. The PVMCC is located on Rt. 2 in Petersburgh. A complimentary breakfast prepared by volunteer chef Byron Dawes and sponsored by PVMCC will be served to Petersburgh veterans on Saturday, February 5, from 8 to 10 am. Broadwell Resigns From Petersburgh Board

At Petersburgh’s Organizational Meeting, Supervisor Peter Schaaphok said the Town had received a letter of resignation from Councilman Ray Broadwell, who has not attended Town Board meetings much in the second half of 2010. The Board hasn’t yet set up any formal process for seeking candidates for an interim appointment to fill Broadwell’s seat, but they indicated they would like to hear from people who might be interested in serving on the Town Board.

Petersburgh Fire District Organizational Meeting

On January 4 the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Petersburgh Fire District No. 1 held its annual Organizational Meeting. The Board consists of Terry Neaton, Don Paulson, Keith Snyder, Steve Waytkus and Mike Jones. The following appointments were made:
Chairman of the Board – Terry Neaton
Deputy Chairman of the Board – Don Paulson
Secretary and Elected Treasurer – Christina Lamphere
Official Newspaper – Eastwick Press
Official Bank – NBT Bank
All meetings are open to the public and are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 pm.
