The Petersburgh Public Library book discussion group will be meeting on Tuesday, January 25, at 7:30 pm to discuss Old Filth by Jane Gaardam.  Everyone is invited to attend.  Copies of the book are available at the Library.
Story Hour
Pre-school story hour meets Tuesday mornings at 10 am.  Children are invited to join us for stories, activities, crafts and snacks.  In the event of inclement weather when school is delayed or closed story hour does not meet.

PVMCC News

PVMCC is kicking off the New Year with a burst of activity.
On weekdays from 7 to 9 am is the Veterans Café, with good coffee, conversation and walking to get the energy flowing for the day. Just remember we are not there if there is no school.
Hours for yoga sessions, a nice relaxing stretch for the body, are posted in the window at PVMCC.
Zumba classes are for getting the calories to burn and pumping up your energy with its lively music. Hours are posted in the window at PVMCC.

St. Mary’s Academy Student Madison Woodley Receives Scholarship

St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls is proud to announce that eighth-grader Madison Woodley has been awarded a scholarship to attend Catholic Central High School in Troy for four years beginning with the 2011-2012 school year.  There were 13 students who received this honor based on academic performance on CCHS’ placement exam. Madison is an active member of 4H and participates in both soccer and basketball at St. Mary’s. Madison is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Woodley of Petersburgh.

Petersburgh – Lawrence F. “Larry” Foster Sr., 72, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at his residence on William Jones Road in Petersburgh, NY. He had resided there with his wife Patricia (Bindoni) Foster, whom he married on April 29, 1961.

Petersburgh Town Board Action – About Dogs

The Petersburgh Town Board meeting was primarily about dogs. The first order of business was to approve the boarding agreement with Pondviews Country Kennels, which was on the same terms as last year. It was approved without discussion.
Petersburgh Dog Officer Lynne Torello-Burns is about to start on a dog enumeration for the Town. Various members of the Board recalled dog enumerations being done in the not-too-distant past, but Town Clerk Callie Crisp says she has no record of any previous enumeration.

Petersburgh And Berlin Scouts Go To Court

Boy Scout Troop 222 from Petersburgh/Berlin went to the Grafton Town Court on Tuesday, December 14, to learn more about the courts and what happens in a town court. The Scouts were given some advice by Judge Kronua. He said that he hoped that none of the scouts would ever end up in front of him or any court but if they did they should be represented by a lawyer in any legal action.

Petersburgh – Angela Jean Burke, 26, a former resident of Petersburgh, NY, died after being struck by a drunk driver in Portland, OR, while walking her bicycle in the bike lane on her way home from work on Wednesday, December 15, 2010.
Born March 8, 1984, in Silver Spring, MD, she was the daughter of Michael J. Burke and Linda Santoro and step-daughter of Athena Burke. She graduated from Berlin High School, Class of 2002. She continued her education and graduated in 2009 from SUNY Albany with a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology.

Krista Rae Burdick and Thomas McNally, Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, October, 23, 2010, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls. The two o’clock pm ceremony was performed by Reverend James Mackey, cousin of the groom.
The Bride was attended by Elizabeth Dunham, as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids included friends Sarah Shufon and Bettina Hamm. The Flower Girl was Aleah Stowell, godchild of the bride.
