Girl Scout Junior Troop 1752 Gets Fit

November 12, 2010 By eastwickpress

Girl Scout Troop 1752 has been very active earning their Fun and Fitness Badges and Adventure Sports badges. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Lisa Garnett for teaching our troop Zumba.  Mrs. Garnett came out to Berlin Elementary and spent an hour of great fun with the girls teaching them all the Zumba moves to the latest music. The junior girl scouts had an amazing time and loved all the dance moves. Who knew exercise could be such fun? Lisa teaches classes at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center on Monday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 and on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7.
The girls also spent a separate fabulous afternoon kayaking and canoeing at Dyken Pond with the wonderful staff there. The girls were especially thrilled with Mr. Trevor. For most of the girls, this was their first time in a kayak or canoe, and he was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Although the weather was a little chilly, it was an exciting fun filled day for all. We would like to thank everyone at Dyken Pond for a great afternoon.

October 29, 2010 By eastwickpress

by David Flint
Two hundred and forty years ago a church on the coast of Rhode Island, concerned about members who had migrated west, sent their pastor, John Burdick, along with Deacon Elisha Stillman, on a mission – to visit the departed members, first in Farmington, Connecticut, and from there “to Little Hoosick and places adjacent where our brethren and Sisters chiefly reside… and inform them that if they are United and established in the Faith of the Gospel, the Church hereby informs them that they have the Liberty to choose them an Elder and the Church is free and willing to lend them all necessary assistance in their power for their furtherance and Establishment in the Faith of the Gospel.”

Petersburgh Town Board Action – Planning Board Attacked

October 22, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Alex Brooks
The Petersburgh Planning Board came under attack from several citizens during the public comment period of the Town Board meeting.
Planning Board Chairman David Miller, who was attending the meeting to speak to the Town Board about a proposed moratorium on subdivisions, left the meeting just before the statements critical of him and the Planning Board began, so he did not hear any of the complaints.
