Petersburgh – Richard Leon Moulton, 96, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center in Hoosick Falls, NY. He had formerly resided on Varville Road in Petersburgh, NY. Richard was the husband of Ruth (Walker) Moulton, who died in 2001.

Petersburgh Planning Board Seeks To Revise Site Plan Review Law

At the Town Board meeting on Monday, September 20, Petersburgh Town Supervisor Peter Schaaphok said he had received a letter from the Planning Board saying that they would like to revise the subdivision regulations, proposing that a one year moratorium on new subdivisions be enacted while they are rewriting the regs and requesting a budget of $7,500 for expert assistance in the rewriting project.

Instrument Donations Needed For Berlin Elementary School

At Berlin Elementary School, over 90% of students in fourth and fifth grade are taking instrumental music lessons.  Many students have begun lessons on recorders, an inexpensive plastic flute that helps beginners develop fundamental music skills.  However, due to financial hardships, about 25 students cannot begin lessons on traditional band instruments such as flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn or trombone.

Petersburgh Square Dancing

The Petersburgh Sunshine Seniors are pleased to announce that they will be bringing square dancing back to Petersburgh.  Square dancing had been a tradition in the Memorial Hall for many years. Now, thanks to Floyd Smith and his friends, the opportunity to revive this American tradition in Petersburgh has returned. The dance will be held Saturday, October 16, at 7 pm.

North Petersburgh Farm Wins Blue Ribbon At The Fair

The Schaghticoke Fair was last week. The first few days were really hot, but the weekend was glorious and the weather was perfect for strolling through the exhibits. Some families have been exhibiting at the Fair for 50 years or more. Today their children and grandchildren also show animals, participate in 4-H programs or exhibit crafts and more. Besides the rides, which the young people love, there were plenty of activities and interesting programs for young and old to enjoy and plenty of food to try as well.

The Founding Families Of Berlin And Petersburgh

The meeting will be held at the United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Berlin, on Monday, September 20, at 7:30 pm. There will be refreshments and a social time following the program. Petersburgh Fire Auxiliary Charlie Dog Fund Raiser Next Friday

The Petersburgh Fire Auxiliary is having a Charlie Dog Fund Raiser at the Fire House on Friday, September 17 beginning at 4 pm and lasting until the dogs are gone.
Dogs cost $ .75 each, ½ dozen for $ 4.75 and 1 dozen for $9.
Pre-order your dogs ahead of time by calling Janet at 658-3053.
We ask the Community to support us in our fund raising efforts by allowing us to cook dinner for them.

Petersburgh Turkey Shoot

It’s time to win that turkey again this year!  The Petersburgh Rod and Gun Club will be holding its Fall Turkey Shoot on
September 26 and October 3, rain date October 10, at 12 noon at the Clubhouse on Scriven Road. Spend an exciting afternoon with your family. Hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and peppers, homemade pies, popcorn and beverages are just a few of the items we offer.  We are continuing with our Summer 50/50 which has been growing all summer.  Raffles will also be offered.  Remember, shotguns and .22 rifles only – no 10 gauge shotguns.  Questions?  Call 283-4890.  Hope to see you there.

Hunter Safety Course

The Petersburgh Rod and Gun Club is offering a Hunter Safety Course on October 8 (evening) and October 9. You must attend both sessions.
