Carnival ride lights illuminated the Town of Hoosick Athletic Field Thursday, Friday and Saturday of last week. Unfortunately for the teenagers, most of the rides were geared for the younger set. Adults who took the time to browse around found great musical entertainment by the Champagne Jam Country & Western band, an antique car show and a dozen or more vendors of jewelry, clothing and assorted handcrafts. There was plenty to eat and Boy Scouts to visit while they camped out. Skilled belly dancer Fiona Slattery was an added attraction near the food concessions.

Petersburgh-Berlin Scout Troop #222 Builds Trail Kiosk For Cherry Plain State Park

Since April, local Scout Troop #222 has worked during its weekly meetings on the construction of a beautiful trail kiosk for Cherry Plain State Park. On Monday, August 24, the kiosk was officially installed at the trail head of the charcoal kiln trail, which also leads into the expansive Capital District Wildlife Management Area’s (CDWMA) trail system.

We were pleased to receive the Judgment and Order by the Town of Petersburgh Court dismissing all of the allegations against us by the Petersburgh Planning Board. At the advice of legal counsel we have not commented publicly regarding the private matter of Star Ridge Way, but the Town Court’s recent ruling affords us the opportunity to clarify a number of facts surrounding this issue.

Aqua Vista Community Benefit

On July 17 rain and 80 mile per hour winds whipped through Aqua Vista Campground in Petersburgh. “The weatherman told us the eye of the storm was right here,” said Lee Weliczka. She and her husband Mike Weliczka own and operate the campground with their little daughter Anika.

The Petersburgh Public Library summer reading program has been completed. A party celebrating the reading done by all ages was held on August 18 which included music with Floyd Smith and Martha von Schilgen. Thirty five children and teens completed the reading requirements. Younger children read 347 books and older children and teens read 19,506 pages. All the children who completed the program were awarded a certificate, canvas tote bag, sports bottle and two books of their choosing.

Petersburgh Town Board Action – Woof, Woof

On Monday, August 16, the Petersburgh Town Board zipped through its business in 15 minutes (not counting the half hour spent auditing the bills) this month with Deputy Supervisor David Green leading the meeting. Supervisor Peter Schaaphok was unable to attend because he was involved in a Battle of Bennington re-enactment on August 16.

Zumba Fitness Fund Raiser To Benefit PVMCC
Drop by Saturday morning, August 21, and try out the latest dance/exercise craze. Instructor Lisa Garnett is offering a drop-in session from 10 am to 12 noon in the Hall for a suggested donation of five dollars with a chance to win a free lesson. There will also be fruit smoothies, fresh granola made by Helane Rubin and Arbonne and BeautiCare products offered for sale to anyone who stops by.
