Hoosick Falls – Kirtland F. Stowell, 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center after a brief illness. He formerly resided in Buskirk, NY, and was the husband of the late Helen Elizabeth Stowell who passed on March 15, 1992.

The Veterans Hall Café is winding down for another season. The last day will be Friday, June 25. There will be a complementary full breakfast for the regulars. The PVMCC Board wishes to thank all the volunteers who have kept the Café open for the past two years. A heartfelt thank you to the faithful and mysterious muffin man! The Veterans Café will re-open when school resumes in the fall.

Teen Night
On Saturday, June 26, Teen Night is kicking off the Summer Season with music provided by local guitarist Nick Hurd. PVMCC’s Teen Night Program Leader, Kasson Sauer will be organizing basketball contests, pool shoot-outs and air hockey competitions with only teens allowed. The cost is $2. This program is made possible through the Stewart’s Holiday Match Fund.
Funeral Notice For Hilda S. Allen
On Saturday, June 26, at noon, relatives and friends are invited to the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, where Rev. Canon Clinton Dugger will officiate a service in remembrance of Hilda Allen. The family will greet friends at the conclusion of the service to share memories. Petersburgh’s Water District Law Under Discussion

On June 7 a public hearing at the Petersburgh Town Hall about the revisions to Local Law 2 of 1986 regarding the water district was held. Town Board Members Amy Manchester and Richard Snyder along with Town Supervisor Peter Schaaphok and Town Clerk Callie Crisp were in attendance.

PVMCC Art Café Night
Join us on Friday, June 25, at the PVMCC for Music and Art Café Night. This month the PVMCC will present Mike McMann. Mike McMann, one of the finest guitar players in the Capital region, is a versatile musician who has been a regular on local stages for over 25 years. A veteran of classic rock, alternative rock, bluegrass, acoustic and jam band circles, Mike has played in such bands as Euphoria, the Tropical Hotdogs and the Kenny Gwyn Band. He will be playing two solo sets starting at 7 pm at the PVMCC on Rt. 2 in Petersburgh. Bring your favorite art supplies and exercise your talents while McMann entertains you with live music. Admission is $5 per person, $8 per couple and $10 per family.
Jennifer Gundrum Recognized As An Outstanding Business Student
Berlin High School Business Teacher Karen Deiana chose Jennifer Gundrum as this year’s 2010 Outstanding Business Education student. This honor is awarded to a student for academic achievement, outstanding citizenship and positive attitude.

Everyone is invited to support the Petersburgh Public Library’s annual fund raiser on Saturday, June 5. We are looking for donations of baked goods and plants. Items donated should be brought to the Library between 2 and 5 pm on Friday, June 4, or between 8 and 9 am on Saturday, June 5. Petersburgh Walkabout
Join the Petersburgh Walkabout! Walkers are needed to walk every road in Petersburgh! By doing two miles each weekday, every road can still be covered before it gets too cool in the fall. It is better to walk with a partner for safety and to prevent backtracking. The first walkers of the day leave the Memorial Hall about 7 am and are generally back by 7:45. The option of an earlier walk is available for those who work an early shift. Call Mary Lou Walters at 658-0136 for ,ore information. T-shirts will be available for those who wish to join the Petersburgh Walkabout.
