AHA HeartSaver CPR Course
The Petersburgh Rescue Ambulance Squad will be holding an American Heart Association HeartSaver Course on June 19 starting at 9 am. The fee is $50 which will cover the cost of learning materials and a face mask for you to keep. All who complete the course will receive an AHA HeartSaver CPR card. If you are interested in signing up, or have any questions, please call 658-3633. Please sign up by June 2. Class size will be limited.

FCCLA Breakfast
The Berlin FCCLA will be holding a Pancake & Sausage Breakfast on Saturday, June 5, from 7 to 10 am at the Broken Wheel Campground in Petersburgh.
The menu consists of pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. The cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children 5-12 and free for those under 5. We’re also offering a family (parents and their children) price of just $20.
Proceeds will help support attendance at the National FCCLA Leadership Conference in Chicago this July. Come and enjoy a scrumptious breakfast!

Petersburgh – Carol “Chickie” Hayes passed away unexpectedly on May 18, 2010, at 72. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bob, four children, four grandchildren, a sister and a brother.

Petersburgh Town Board Action – Personal Use Of Town Equipment

A citizen came to the Petersburgh Town Board meeting this month to report that Highway Superintendent Ray Harrison had used a Town loader to put a vehicle and some old farm equipment onto a trailer to be sold for scrap metal. He said he thought this was an improper private use of Town equipment.
Town Supervisor Peter Schaaphok thanked him for bringing the matter to the attention of the Town Board and said the Board would discuss it in executive session after the public meeting.

Petersburgh Fire Department Cindy Harrison Memorial Scholarship
Applications are now being accepted for the Petersburgh Fire Department/Cindy Harrison Scholarship from those continuing their education through either college or vocational training. Current or former Berlin graduates who have overcome obstacles and/or struggled through adversity are eligible.

Dave Stall To Serve In Rhode Island
Dave Stall is relocating to Ashaway, RI, to serve as full time Pastor of the First Seventh Day Baptist Church of Hopkinton, established in 1708. In the 1700s, the Church in Ashaway, RI, sent hundreds of people to settle in the Hoosic River Valley of NY and in 1780 they started the Seventh Day Baptist Church in what is now Berlin. To complete the circle, Dave will be moving along with his wife Jennifer and daughters Lexia and Loreli at the end of June. They are closing their business in Petersburgh, the Brookside Inn, on June 1.

Noeding Files Voter Intimidation Complaint

Heinz Noeding of Petersburgh has filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office alleging voter intimidation on the part of the Berlin Central School District. Noeding said that last week he received a letter from the District Clerk, Mary Grant, saying it had come to her attention that his legal residence may not be in the District. He was advised therefore that if he wished to vote in the upcoming election he would have to bring to the polling station on May 18 a copy of page 1 and the signature page of his federal or state income tax form as proof of legal residence. Personal and financial information other than his name and address could be redacted.
