Developer Withdraws Glamping Application from Petersburgh

At a special meeting of the Petersburgh Planning Board held on Monday, December 13, Chairperson Janet Spitz said the application for approval of a high-end camping resort on East Hollow Road has been withdrawn by the developer. The communication from the developer’s attorney confirming withdrawal of the application did not state the reason for it, but it appears to be about additional permits that may be required and the possibility that it would be be declared a Type 1 action under SEQRA, which would require an extensive (and expensive) environmental review. Petersburgh Planning Board Holds Another Public Hearing on “Glamping” Proposal

The Petersburgh Planning Board held a third public hearing on a “Glamping” (glamorous camping) development proposed for a lot on East Hollow Road. The project is proposed by Becca Benvie, and would include ten small structures designed for short term rental to tourists and vacationers. These tiny homes, with about 400 square feet of living space in each, will be served by driveways, two septic systems and two wells. They will have bathrooms, heat and electricity. The project is expected to cost in total about $1.5 million to construct, and the plan is to rent the homes in all seasons.

Petersburgh Water District Fees will Increase

Luxury Camping Development Proposed on East Hollow

The Petersburgh Planning Board currently has before it a proposal to build ten small cabins for short term rental on a site at 193 East Hollow Road in Petersburgh. The proponent of the project is named Becca Benvie, and the design so far has been done by McGiver Design Services of Cobleskill. Petersburgh PFOA Meeting

Stephen Schwarz of the firm Faraci Lange spoke at an informational meeting in Petersburgh on Monday evening about the class action lawsuit against Taconic for compensation for PFOA contamination. Taconic has agreed to pay a total of $23.5 million in compensation. Those who are eligible include homeowners of houses in the Water District or houses whose wells have PFOA contamination in the water, and residents of houses with contaminated wells, whether they are owners or renters. Two More Wells in Poestenkill Test Positive For Higher than Permitted Levels of PFOA

The Town of Hoosick will Seek a Moratorium on Marijuana Sales Instead of Simply Opting Out

The Town Board wants more guidance from New York State and wishes to establish where such dispensaries may be located by adopting changes to the town zoning code. The Board plans to officially opt out of any on site consumption.

New Brunswick Budget Holds The Line on Taxes

Presented to the Town Board at their Thursday evening meeting, Supervisor Phil Herrington’s budget proposal calls for no change in the tax rate. Spending in the budget is up, but so are revenues, which allowed for the 0% tax change.

New Rensco Budget Calls for 10% Tax Cut

Delivered to the Rensselaer County Legislature on Thursday, the budget maintains the level of county services and is the fourth consecutive year County Executive Steve McLaughlin has proposed budgets that cut taxes. Read the complete story here.
