The Hoosick Falls Panthers secured the 2016-17 league championship when they defeated the Mechanicville Red Raider Friday evening. The win was the 15th win out of 15 league games and gave HFCS the league title for the fourth year in a row. The Panthers have had at least a piece of the title seven out of the last nine years.
HF 56 – Spa Catholic 37

Tuesday, February 14 at HFCS. HF 17-3, L 16-0; SC 10-10, L 8-8. It was Senior Night for the Panther boys. Seniors Alex Haynes, Aaron Tomczak, Hez Stephenson, Hayden Smith, Jake Restino and Jordan Case played their last regular season game of HFCS basketball. In the game, Hoosick Falls jumped out to a 15-7 first quarter lead and from there led the entire game. The pesky Saints hung in there about 10 to 12 points behind through much of the second and third quarters before dropping back almost 20 points. Guy Milliman scored 16 points, Alex Haynes had 13, Jon Kempf had 11 and Evan McCart dropped in 10. Connor Farrington led the Saints with 14 points. The Hoosick Falls JV won 37-35 in overtime. Junior varsity head coach Chris Fleming had another stellar season with his boys, producing a 15-1 league record and 18-1 overall.
HF 47 – Mechanicville 38
Friday, February 10 at Mechanicville HS. HF 16-3, L 15-0; M O 9-10, L 8-7. The Panthers held Mechanicville to single digit scoring in the second and third quarters to hold a 35-28 end of third quarter lead. Evan McCart scored 16 points to lead the team, Guy Milliman added 14 points.
