Petersburgh Library Activities

The Petersburgh Public Library story hour continues on Tuesday mornings at 11 am.  All preschoolers and their caregivers are invited to attend.  September concludes Mother Goose month on Tuesday, the 29th with a cat and kitten theme including “Three Little Kittens” and “Hey Diddle, Diddle” and others.  October will feature animals so invite a friend and join us. Driver Dozes Off, Truck Leaves Route 22

At 7 am Saturday morning, a J & J Trucking driver fell asleep traveling north on Route 22 about three-tenths of a mile south of the state highway department garage. The empty milk tanker truck he was driving went off the east side of the road and tore through the underbrush for approximately 200 feet before coming to a stop. After the truck hit a concrete culvert, everything in the truck’s path was cleared to the dirt, suggesting some of the wheels may have been sheared off. John E. Parkinson Of Petersburgh Honored By NYS Senator Marchione For Service In The Korean War

Petersburgh resident John E. Parkinson was recently inducted into the 2015 Veteran’s Hall of Fame by New York State Senator Kathy Marchione (R-Halfmoon). Parkinson was joined by six other honorees from Rensselaer, Saratoga and Columbia counties, in a ceremony held at the NYS Military Museum in Saratoga Springs. [Read more…] about John E. Restoration Of Remarkable Headstone Of Dr. Philander H. Thomas, Born In Stephentown And Former Sandlake Supervisor, Offers A Window Into Local History

On August 8 Joe Ferrannini of Hoosick Falls-based Grave Stone Matters repaired the headstones  in the “Old” Mount Ida Cemetery of several people of historical significance who had ties to eastern Renssaelear County, including Dr. Jeffery W. Thomas and Dr. Philander H. Thomas of West Sand Lake, and his wife, Laura Hull Thomas. Her grandfather was Lt. Petersburgh Planning Board With Town Board Members Agrees On Draft Of Manufactured Homes Law

The Petersburgh Planning Board met with the Supervisor and two members of the Town Board, Alan Webster and Denise Church, to discuss the latest draft of  the Planning Board’s proposed new local law regulating manufactured homes and recreational vehicles. The law does not go into great detail – it relies on State regulations to explicate the details. Instead the law, just four pages long, establishes some basic ground rules about installation and occupancy of the various types of manufactured homes.
