The Petersburgh Town Board hired its Assessor, Craig Surprise, as acting building inspector at an emergency meeting on May 29. Supervisor Krahforst said at this week’s Petersburgh Town Board meeting that an attorney from the Association of Towns had assured him that there is no problem with having the same person be your Assessor and your Building Inspector/CEO. The Wizard of Oz Comes To Petersburgh!
On Tuesday, June 30 at 7 pm everyone is invited to a very special program. Join The Puppet People as they follow the yellow brick road to The Emerald City and beyond in the magical Land of Oz and bring to life this literary classic! See Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion learn about home, courage, heart and smarts! This puppet fantasy features marionettes, shadow puppets, rod puppets, a large parade puppet and more! This program will be held at the Petersburgh Veterans Community Center.
Sign-up has begun for the summer reading program. Everyone is invited to join in reading and programs throughout the summer months. There are only 3 programs which require advance sign-up. On Thursday, July 9 from 3 to 5 pm, youth in grades 6-12 are invited to a “Painting Party”. All materials will be provided and when completed the youth will have a beautiful canvas painting to take home.
There will also be two Pinch Pots Pottery programs for which sign-up is required. The first will be for children age 8 through grade 6 which will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 30 and July 14. The second is for grade 7 through adults and will be held on Tuesday, June 21 and 28. Both programs require attendance at both sessions to complete projects to be taken home by participants. Please stop by the library or call 658-2927 to sign-up for the programs since space is limited.

The Berlin July 4th Parade Committee invites you to tell your Tall Tales with a float in the 2015 parade which kicks off at 11 am on Saturday, July 4th. Tell everyone your tallest tale and maybe even win a cash prize for doing so. There is no entry fee. The Grand Prize float is awarded $125.
