Auction Supports 4-H Youth Development

Come support the 4-H Auction on April 9 and bid on amazing items that Teen Council and 4-H Club Members have gathered from local businesses and families. Some items for auction are a gift certificate to Shiloh’s Edge for a private 1/2 day experience on the Challenge Ropes Course for up to 12 people, a sterling silver cuff bracelet, a Pandora bracelet with Murano beads and sterling silver charm,  a Tiffany and Company sterling necklace, a copy of In the Kitchen with Rosie and a $15 gift certificate from Good Buy Books as well as many assorted theme baskets.
The Rensselaer County 4-H Teen Council Annual Auction is Friday, April 9, at Tamarac High School, Route 2 in Brunswick.   Doors open at 6:30 pm.  Bidding starts at 7 pm. Make a night of it!

Spring Electronics Recycling Day Set For April 10

The Rensselaer County Legislature will again team up with Troy business e-Lot to sponsor an electronics recycling day, and county residents are invited to participate. The electronics recycling event will be the fourth jointly sponsored by the County Legislature and e-Lot. Participation in the past electronics recycling days has been outstanding. During each of the previous three electronics recycling days, more than 300 residents participated, with everything from computers to refrigerators, stereos and VCRs.

Stephentown Library To Offer Grant Seeking Services

The Stephentown Memorial Library is pleased to announce its designation as a cooperating collection of the Foundation Center, the national clearinghouse for grant funding information. SML joins only about 400 other libraries across the United States selected to offer grant research capabilities through the Foundation’s online database.

American Diabetes Alert Day

The Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center will host a free talk for caregivers, patients with diabetes and health care professionals on Friday, March 19, at 2 pm, presented by Deborah Henley, MD. Topics include diabetic foot problems, foot care, neuropathy and preventions and treatments. If you have any questions regarding to this event or to RSVP please contact Rhonda Hickey at 802-753-5000. Gifford, recipient of the Purple Heart and Silver Star Medals among other military awards and decorations for his honorable service to our nation as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and, lifelong resident of the Town of Hoosick, was recognized on Monday, February 8, 2010 by the Rensselaer County Honor-A-Deceased Veteran Committee as well as County, state and federal officials.

Possibility Of Five Rensselaer County State Parks Closing

There are 179 Parks and 36 Historic Sites in New York State. NYS budget rumors have five State sites closing in Rensselaer County. They are Grafton Lakes State Park, Cherry Plain State Park, Schodack Island State Park, the Bennington Battlefield and Fort Crailo. There is swimming and canoeing at both Grafton and Cherry Plain. Grafton is open year around and has over 20 miles of trails suitable for walking, mountain biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross country skiing.
