Ninth Annual Ryan And Courtney Motorcycle Run

The Ninth Annual Memorial Ryan Gardner/Courtney Carelli Motorcycle Run will be held in Stephentown on Saturday, August 4. Once again, motorcyclists and spectators will gather at Gardner’s Ice Cream and Coffee Shoppe on Route 22 at 9 am for the annual benefit that will depart at 11 am for a 90 mile ride through parts of New York, Vermont and Massachusetts.  The motorcyclists from around the region will return to the Fire Hall on Grange Hall Road for a day of food, games, music, raffles and entertainment from 1 pm on.

Troy’s Draft Riot Of 1863 At The Stephentown Historical Society

Michael Barrett will give an illustrated talk on Troy’s draft riot of 1863 at the Stephentown Historical Society meeting on Monday, August 6, at 7:30 pm. The meeting will be at the Stephentown Heritage Center on Garfield Road, Stephentown. It is free and open to the public. The building is handicapped accessible. Tsatsawassa Pig Roast

On Saturday, August 18, the Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company Inc. will hold its 24th Annual Pig Roast on the Fire House grounds located just off Route 20 in the hamlet of Brainard. Doors will open at 1 pm, and the afternoon will be filled with fun events, including door prizes and games as well as hot dogs, sausage, hamburgers and drinks, all the while the ‘whole pig’ covered with foil, will be roasting on the spit in view of the attendees.

Katrina Neubauer Graduates From Marymount University

Marymount University is proud to announce that Katrina Neubauer, a resident of Stephentown earned a B.S. in Nursing (2nd degree) summa cum laude. Neubauer is among the more than 450 undergraduates and 350 graduate students who received degrees at the University’s 61st Commencement Ceremonies at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC, on May 20.
The Honorable Charles T. (Chuck) Hagel, Chairman of the Atlantic Council and former U.S. Senator from Nebraska, gave the Address to the Graduates at the undergraduate ceremony and received the honorary degree, Doctor of Humane Letters, in recognition of his lifetime of distinguished leadership and service. Vivian M. Close

Stephentown – Vivian Mary Jandrow Close, 87, formerly of NY Route 43, Stephentown, NY, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, VT, where she had resided the past two years.
Born in Whitehall, NY, on May 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Olive Deo Jandrow. She was the loving wife of the late Sylvester C. “Si” Close, who died on March 9, 2010. They were married in St. Joseph’s Church in Stephentown on February 5, 1949. She had resided in Stephentown since 1948 and was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church.

Stephentown – Theresa Sykes, 57, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, NY, with her loving family by her side. Born on September 2, 1954, in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Low Hing. She was a lifelong resident of Stephentown, NY, and was a graduate of Berlin Central High School.
