An Evening With Clara Barton
Come spend an evening with Clara Barton, as portrayed by Phyllis Chapman, at the Stephentown Historical Society meeting on Monday, May 7, at 7:30 pm. Barton will tell of her experiences as a battlefield nurse during the American Civil War and her work after the war. The meeting will be at the Stephentown Heritage Center on Garfield Road, Stephentown. It is free and open to the public. The building is handicapped accessible. Stephentown – Michael John Demick, 24, of Sutherland Road, Stephentown, NY, died suddenly on Friday evening, April 27, 2012, from injuries he received in an automobile accident in the Town of Hancock, MA. His cherished canine companion, Bebe, also perished in the accident.

Provost Road Gets Face Lift

Provost Road in Stephentown is getting a face lift. The road has figured in a lot of discussion at Town Board meetings in recent years. Residents complaining of dust and high traffic because of people using it as a shortcut between Routes 43 and 22 were successful back in 2004 in having the road designated one way. Six years later the Town Board returned it to two way traffic. For various reasons, including the traffic, it has been a difficult road to maintain properly.
