Stephentown resident Andrea Beckwith was the winner of the Heavenly Quilters’ annual Quilt Raffle but the community, through the Stephentown Memorial Library, was also a big time winner. The Quilters held their drawing on Tuesday morning at the Federated Church’s Pearce Hall. The beautiful 102 x 106 inch sampler quilt goes to Beckwith and $1,200 in proceeds from the raffle goes to the Library.

Stephentown Town Board Action – Looking For A New Telephone System

The Stephentown Town Board, fed up with a malfunctioning telephone system, passed a resolution on Monday to request proposals for replacing the system. Town Supervisor Larry Eckhardt went through a long-standing list of complaints from Town officials that included constant unexplained ringing necessitating a reset of the system and loss of data, disappearing or irretrievable voice mails and breaches of privacy when voice mails are left. Stephentown ZBA Approves Scope Of Motocross Park EIS

At a special meeting on April 17 the Stephentown Zoning Board of Appeals approved the final Scope for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to be prepared in the SEQR process for Howard Commander’s proposed Motocross park. Commander’s team, led by his engineer Patrick Prendergast, agreed to put together a Draft EIS. It will not be ready for the next ZBA meeting, which would normally be held on May 3, but Prendergast said he would give a progress report sometime next month. SVFD Roast Beef Dinner
The annual Stephentown Vol. Fire Dept. Roast Beef Dinner is Saturday, April 21, from 4 to 7 pm at the Stephentown Fire Hall. The meal costs $10 for adult and take-out dinners, $7 for kids 6-10 and free for those under 6.
