A Pennsylvania Bucktail In Stephentown

Timothy Mulholland, a down to earth aging country boy from north central Pennsylvania, was at the Stephentown Heritage Center Monday evening to tell of his experience in the Civil War, “some 20 years ago.” Tim joined the Pennsylvania “Bucktails” regiment right after the rebels fired on Fort Sumter and stayed on right through to Appomattox Court House. Valley Community Farmers Market Meeting

Our Valley Community Farmers Market (OVCFM) will hold its first meeting of the 2012 season on April 17 at 7 pm in the Fellowship Hall of the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church (North Main Street). Anyone interested in knowing more about the market – especially those interested in vending – is encouraged to attend. The meeting will include a discussion of OVCFM’s Market Handbook and policies, answer questions about New York State and Rensselaer County regulations, move toward creating a Market Committee and review community involvement.

Introducing The Cougar

Periodically The Eastwick Press receives reports from readers about sightings of mountain lions in the area. Quite a few of these have come from the Berlin-Stephentown area, and it generates a lot of interest as to whether these big cats are making a comeback, just as the coyote, bear, moose and wild turkey have done. This interest brought out a group of 20 people to the Stephentown Library Tuesday evening to hear nature author Robert Tougias discuss the topic and his new book, The Quest For The Eastern Cougar.

A Civil War Character At The Stephentown Historical Society

Re-enactor Tim Case will appear as Timothy Mulholland, a Civil War veteran, before the Stephentown Historical Society on Monday, April 2, at 7:30 pm.
