Stephentown VFD Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner
The Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department’s 14th Annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner will be served on Saturday, March 17, from 4 to 7 pm. This all you can eat dinner is at the Fire Hall on Grange Hall Road. Take-out dinners are also available. Adult and take-out dinners cost $10. Dinner for ages 6 to 10 years cost $6 and kids 5 and under dine for free.
Student-Athlete Tyler Pomakoy Recognized For Outstanding Academic Achievement
Tyler Pomakoy, a student-athlete at Binghamton University, was named to the fall 2011 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll after achieving semester grade point averages (GPA) of 3.30 or higher.
Tyler Pomakoy, who is on the Men’s Soccer team and pursuing a major in Undeclared, hails from Stephentown, and attended Berlin High School.

Stephentown – Joseph Rieger, Jr., 84, of Garfield Road, Stephentown, NY, died on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at his residence. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 9, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Liedecker Rieger. He was the loving husband of the former Ruth M. Sweener, whom he married on August 30, 1952 at the Immaculate Conception Church in New Lebanon, NY. They have lived in the Stephentown area since 1953.

Stephentown – Ruth H. Avery Koepp, 84, a 70 year resident of Stephentown, NY, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at her residence after a long illness.
Born in Chatham, NY, on March 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Margaret Rothe Avery. She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth G. Koepp, who died on December 27, 2005. They were married on May 12, 1950. Ruth was a member of the Christian Assembly Church in Pittsfield, MA.

Teen Night Events To Raise Funds For Youth To Youth Conference
Youth to Youth Berlin has coordinated what it hopes to be several Teen Nights at the Bridgeway Ballroom in Cherry Plain. It is meant to not only be a night of safe, drug-free fun inspired by the Youth to Youth Conference but the first of monthly Teen Nights locally to provide kids with fun safe drug-free entertainment.

• Make Your Own Terrarium – Tuesday, February 21, at 1:30 pm. Perk up any windowsill with a beautiful, low maintenance, coffee pot terrarium. Learn how terrariums recycle air and water, while creating your own miniature landscape using small plants, moss, vines and stones. This is a great way to go green. All materials will be provided, including a variety of second hand coffee pots. This free program, led by Casey Southard, is for anyone age six and up. Class size is limited so please call and reserve a spot for this fun project.

Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department Texas Hold’em
The Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, February 25, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located at 35 Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.
A free buffet will be served at the first break, and refreshments will be available.
No advance registration is required, and a donation of $35 per player will be accepted. Players can make an additional $10 donation at the door for 1,000 extra chips. This tournament will pay one place for every ten players with a minimum of four places.

Hancock – Edith M. Kickery Wilcox, 86, of Main Street, Hancock, MA, died on Monday, February 13, 2012, at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA.
Born in Pittsfield on April 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Lillian Kelly Kickery. She was the wife of the late George E. Wilcox, Sr., who died on February 24, 1995. They were married in Stephentown, NY, on June 17, 1940.
