Reprinted from September 2001, this is the story of one local person who experienced “Ground Zero” in person in the days immediately following the 9-11 attack.

Rob Soncini, a firefighter in the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department, was helping out at the Muster Sunday,  It was a pleasant fall day for the Muster, and the event was, as usual, fun-filled and upbeat.  But Rob had just returned that morning from what some are calling the “jaws of hell”.  He was a volunteer rescue worker at the World Trade Center from Thursday through Saturday.  [Read more…] about In Remembrance September 11, 2001 – Stephentown Volunteer Rob Soncini

Stephentown Motocross At The ZBA – Everybody Showed Up, Not Much Got Done

After taking a break for one month, the Stephentown Zoning Board has resumed its monthly meetings focused on a request for a zoning variance for Howard Commander’s Motocross park proposed for a site off of Webster Hill Road adjoining his Lebanon Valley Race Track and drag strip. Hancock- James Oliver Southard, 87, of Hancock died Monday morning, August 29, 2011.
Born on September 9, 1923 at the family homestead on Knapps Road in Stephentown, NY, son of Anna (Caverly) Southard and Walter Calvin Southard, James grew up in Stephentown and Hancock.
