Stephentown Extra Helpings

The ordering date for May bundles from the Extra Helpings Community Food Buying Club in Stephentown was originally Thursday, April 28, from 3:30 to 6 pm at the Stephentown Federated Church on Garfield Road.  Because the menu was only available late this month, orders will be accepted until May 9.  Please call Paula Dibble to make late ordering arrangements at 518-733-0699.

Stephentown Town Board Action – Eyesores

Moving ahead on a priority to get the Town’s Land Use Regulations updated, the Stephentown Town Board at their meeting Monday officially established a citizens committee to get it done. At the same time they also heard more complaints about the seeming inability of the Town to do anything about certain places around town considered by some to be environmental hazards as well as horrific eyesores.

Community Farmers Market Meeting

The first vendor meeting of Our Valley Community Farmers Market (OVCFM) will be held on April 29 at 6:30 pm at the Seventh Day Baptist Church on North Main Street, Berlin. Open to all interested vendors, the meeting will include an overview of OVCFM’s handbook and marketing efforts as well as location and layout, the finalization of market hours, a look at “Opening Day” activities and any questions from vendors.

Attention Stephentown Graduating Students

The Stephentown Memorial Library is offering one scholarship to a graduating senior who will enter a two or four year college in the Fall.  Applicants for the Stephentown Memorial Library Scholarship must be a resident of Stephentown. The scholarship fund results from gifts and bequests made to the Library specifically for scholarship purposes.
Applications are available at the Library and at the Guidance Offices of local public and private schools attended by Stephentown students. The application deadline is May 23, 2011.

Texas Hold’em In Stephentown

The Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department  will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, April 30, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located on Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.

Stephentown In Statewide Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Drive

Thanks to volunteers, residents of towns like Stephentown get fire protection and emergency services at an amazing bargain rate. And without the volunteers there is no way the Town could afford it. Bill Jennings, Treasurer of the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department and Secretary of the Board of Fire Commissioners, made this clear at an Open House tour of the Fire Station on Saturday.
